We went on Sunday for their Valentine's Day Brunch. The brunches are always on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We started with the Eggs Benedict, sausage and bacon. There is also an omelet station to customize your omelets. Scrambled eggs, waffles, smoked salmon, bagels and croissants were available. The other stations included quiche, calamari, beef stroganoff and shrimp pesto over linguine. There is a carving station with Ham & gravy or mustard. The desserts included three different cakes and pies, mini cannoli, cookies, brownies,fruits, etc. The only disconcerting fact was that we were charged $7 for tap sodas. Yet all types of juices were free, which really doesn't make sense as juices are more expensive that soda from a tap. The price per person of the brunch is $21.99 but sometimes it fluctuates a dollar or two. Overall good but they need to work on their beverage selection prices.

In years past, the Boathouse was our "go to" dinner destination and we happily dined at least once a week on the deck. We finally had a chance to go this season and were extremely disappointed. The service was terrible, the server was slamming plates on the tables, our drinks were never refilled and we had to beg for the check b/c the server never came back after dropping off the food. If the place was busy, I could possibly understand it, but there were a total of 6 tables on the deck and 3 servers wandering around. The food took forever and was mediocre at best - a far cry from what we came to expect from years of dining at the Boathouse. The only bright spot was the view and the always cheerful hostess. Sadly, it will be a long time before we come back, if ever.Chrissie,We are so sorry to hear that your visit was so subpar. We are truly surprised as this time of year has our most experienced staff and I would like to hear more offline about your experience. We started with the French onion soup that was piping hot and loaded with cheese and chicken wings that were rather bland even with the Buffalo sauce. My wife ordered the coconut crusted Mahi Mahi and served with a potato pancake with a darkened coating. I opted for the Mac and cheese that was loaded with chunks of lobster. Both dishes were huge, seasoned and cooked perfectly. Great service and good cocktails make this a place you want to back to and try some of the other dishes on their extensive menu. A note to all going this time of year, dress for the outdoors as there was no heat on our visit.
While researching seafood markets, I stumbled on Pura Vida Fisheries, that thankfully has a dine in or take out service. What better way to test the freshness of their fish than to test it on site? I had the family with me, and we were blown away! My daughter was thrilled they asked her what kind of fish she wanted for her fish and chips. My husband who is not overly prone to compliments declared their fish tacos the best outside California. I had a perfectly and freshly prepared (no over the top mayo to soften a dry old lobster) lobster roll - they boiled the lobster right then and there. We all shared each otherâs meals and walked away with a new dining favorite while in the area. I wonât mind traveling an hour to purchase my fish, just pack a cooler and make it an outing! If you are traveling the Hudson Valley leaf peeping this Fall, have a true New England experience with the freshest fish. Just donât expect to pay for dining ambiance, they are all about the fish here!
