Visited for breakfast whilst on holiday as it had been recommended to us. We both had eggs benedict, one with bacon and one with smoked salmon. Friendly service and tasty food. It is slightly pricey but for the quality of food, definitely worth it if you fancy treating yourself. Thank you for your great review. We are glad that you enjoyed your breakfast with ushere at Below Decks.

Ate in the Dartmouth branch so, used the Torquay one too, to get out of the torrential rain. Excellent range of fresh fish of the day - hake, gurnard, megrim, mussels. I went for the hake, in light batter, with chips. Unlimited chips, still, or sparkling water. All cooked to perfection! Best chips Iâve ever had, hake juicy, light non-greasy batter. Tremendous service, and very friendly staff.

Stumbled onto this by accident, but what a treat. We hadnât booked, but the very friendly staff happily accommodated our request for a table for two. The menu was amazing, and I mustâve changed my mind twenty times. We finally settled on three starters and two mains. Whilst we waited, we were treated to a lovely mini loaf and garlic and olives, which were delicious. When the starters arrived, I was glad there were three, the lobster bisque was outstanding and Iâd happily choose for my last meal! Mains were really good too, fabulous monkfish and hubby really enjoyed his tempura scallops with hake. Iâd go there for the potato dauphinois alone! We were too stuffed for pud, but they looked good, and will make sure we have room on our next visit!! Staff were lovely too, so all in all, a fabulous dinner!

Went here as they did gluten free afternoon tea but was left a bit disappointed. They have a separate gluten free menu and the lady who makes the food really knows here allergens it seems (separate prep area etc). 3 cakes were available gluten free, two of which were also dairy free and dairy free margarine was used for our sandwiches.Maybe they were having a bad day but things did not go smoothly. They seemed to have a new asian lady taking the orders and she could not understand my accent...despite my job being one where I deal with people in a clinical setting and I often get comments on how easy I am to understand.Anyway, we tried to make our order, but she gave us a pen and paper to write it down as she couldn't understand. Then she came out after a bit to check which part was gluten free (later the person preparing to food came out with it to the table and that is how we know she knows her stuff). Part of the order did not arrive and so we had to chase it. The gluten free afternoon tea on the menu says a choice of cookie was included but there are no GF cookies. The gluten free sandwiches were a but dry and bland sadly and the cakes were sweet but a bit tasteless.I so wanted to like it here but just felt a bit let down by the end. Not awful but not a treat.Sorry you had this feeling we aim to satisfy our customer please come aging

We visited with a party of 8 people. Despite them being busy, they managed to accommodate us and put some tables together for us. Despite a vegetarian and a vegan in the group, there was something tasty for them both to enjoy as well and the fish and chips with chip shop curry sauce and mushy peas, which I had were delicious. Not greasy like you find in most chippies!! Plus, it's unlimited chips!! If I come back to Torquay, I'll definitely be back to Saltwater Fish Restaurant!!

Had an amazing meal during a recent visit to Devon. Staff show you the fresh fish and explain the wide variety of specials on offer. Good wine and lovely dessert on top. Would highly recommend.

This is a dining experience in a business model that might seem a little weird. Tables are booked by the time and only open on Friday and Saturday. I phoned to book and the message said we have one table at 6:15. I wanted it (have you seen the reviews?) Hazel phoned said you have to be there at 6:15, no worries I said. She checked again at breakfast. The business model is amazing tables arrive at intervals, meaning you get very personal service from Hazel, Gordon gets to cook personally for you. Lots of local fish and bistro meals. Starters were superb. Scallops and crab cakes x2. Brill, turbot and confit pork, coconut and vanilla tart, white chocolate and Baileys parfait and dark chocolate and Tia Maria parfait. Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc. Ludicrously cheap prices. This restaurant is a gem! Oops forgot the carrots. Quite frankly the best carrots I have ever eaten, that includes Quatre Saisons. This is the best double act in restaurant land, try it but you will have to wait âtil December they are fully bookedMany thanks for your fantastic review we were so pleased to read your comments, being compared favourably to Quatre Saisons is high praise indeed.Gordon and Hazel.
