This unique and delightful restaurant is right on the road but once inside you feel like your on the water with sand and all. The food and service is brilliant and fresh and save room for dessert!

We were running desperate to have lunch in a beach restaurant. It took the tour of the entire island and 'presque ile' to find the Escale du France. Hard to find a nicer spot and historic too. The cruise ship France stopped there! Service and food were perfect. We had a nice chat with the owner too.

Excellent food, fresh from the market and practical location where you can easily park. Walking distance from the Meridien Hotel. They do great eggs benedict, the best ones in Tahiti....fresh seafood including fresh local shrimps cooked with a fresh ginger sauce.Good coffee and the dessert menu is great too if you have a sweet tooth.

This charming restaurant should be top of your list if you are driving around the beautiful island of Tahiti. Situated overlooking the Baie Phaeton and the towering volcanic mountains in the background, the scenery alone is worth a visit. There is a real French elegance and atmosphere about this lovely restaurant, and the buffet, chock with Tahitian local dishes was a delightful challenge to the jaded fast-food palates of many of the tourists who dined with us on a balmy spring afternoon. The bar serves icy-cold Hinano beer, the local delicacy which rates as one of the finest ales in the world, and well worth travelling the vast South Pacific to enjoy. The staff were a little aloof, possibly because they were struggling to understand the often abrasive Aussie accents, but their quiet Tahitian beauty won many a heart. The fish are farmed from enclosures in the ocean right in front of the restaurant and almost literally swim onto your plate...now that's fresh! We highly recommend the Alsalce wine, Gewurztraminer, to accompany the tasty Tahitian treats.. and the pastries for dessert were Parisian quality...tres magnifique!Tahiti is not blessed with many fine restaurants, and Papeete is no longer a romantic destination, (and that is being kind)...but the Restaurant Paul Gauguin is a special dining pleasure worth driving around the island to savour. It is, in Tahitian, Noa Noa, a charming and harmonious experience.Merci Bien Paul Gauguin...another masterpiece...we shall return in May 2017.

Restaurant servant de bons cocktails. Personnel super sympa. Nous avons passé un agréable moment. La salle est un tout petit peu bruyante mais ce n est pas pour autant que nous n y retournerons pas.
