This resto complements its average food offering with average service quality. I could end the review there but since people want more, here's more.There are two areas. On the left there is a room where they will serve you a meal. On the right, they will only serve you drinks and snacks. We got to experience both areas, because when we arrived, they said all the tables are full in the dining area, but we could sit in the other area and order drinks and snacks, and a table for dining would open up in 20 minutes. Sixty minutes later, we checked the dining room. Several tables were now available (it was getting late into the afternoon, and we had come for lunch), but they had not called us to eat. The server we had in the dining room was the same as in the waiting room (and she served other dining room tables as well). Was she not aware that we were waiting for a table to have lunch and did not just come to eat nachos in the waiting room? Hard to know.We ordered. There were 8 of us, and when the food was ready, we each had to identify our order. "Who had the fishnchips?" "I did" . "Who had the mussels" . "I did". The fish n chips was tasty. People made positive remarks about the chowder alsoThe big salad was big salad, and the steamed mussels were steamed mussels. I did not try the cheeseburger, but it looked standard also.Avoid the crab and lobster on an open face sandwich: make it yourself out of canned crab and lobster and fake mayo (whatever it was, tasted a bit like Miracle Whip).The french fries that come in profusion with every dish are good for 1-2 minutes after they arrive, then go downhill big time.Definitely get one of the great microbrews rather than the prosaic wine.The grounds are nice, the view is lovely, perhaps you can eat outside on the porch if weather permits,. You could probably do worse if you are hungry in Souris. Not sure if you could do better in Souris, and there's the rub.

The service was slow considering it was mid afternoon on a weekday. The waitress was very nice and helpful once she was available. I asked about the butter brickle dessert and the way she explained it made me decide to skip lunch and go right for dessert. It arrived and there was plenty of it - the topping was good but the vanilla ice cream was horrendous. It was ice like and bland - if this is a signature dessert then the least you could do is provide a premium ice cream .My friend order the coconut shrimp and fries. Shrimp were Ok but the fries were frozen. In a province that grows potatoes everywhere it astounds me how many places serve frozen PEI potatoes!

I really felt that this was THE best meal Iâve had in a very long time. Knowledgeable and very friendly staff. Excellent service. Yes, $150 is a bit pricey but donât forget, the gratuities are included. All food made from scratch and sourced locally. Beautiful presentation, fabulous atmosphere. Will probably fly to PEI again the the future to experience it again.
