Dined last evening at the Sea Mountain Restaurant which is located at the Sea Mountain Golf Course. We had a very good meal, with my husband having the Lemon Broiled Salmon. I had the Prime Rib Sandwich and my daughter had the Hailibut Sandwich. Both fish entrees were cooked a bit dry but well flavored. The Prime Rib sandwich consisted of a large full slice of prime rib, served with horseradish and au jus. Each entree, including the sandwiches came with a nice size salad and fries ( we chose sweet potato). Overall a nice meal on a scenic golf course.
We arrived in Sitka the day before our week-long cruise on the Wilderness Explorer (part of the Un-Cruise fleet) hungry for our first taste of Alaskan seafood. We literally stumbled across the sandwich board sign outside the Alaska Native Brotherhood (ANB) Hall touting fish and chips for $15.Two entrepreneurial brothers have made the hall (and it's spanking new commercial kitchen) home to Alaska Today restaurant. It was great to meet the guys and hear their story. As we learned, the ANB Hall is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1914, it is the original chapter house of the organization established by the Tlingits to advocate for the rights of the native people and preserve their culture. The walls inside are lined with historic photographs and artifacts worth stopping to see ... and then there is the food. It's dungeness crab season, and my hubby ordered the crab platter that included a half a crab, panko crusted halibut, home-made coleslaw, and fries. The crab was delicious, the coleslaw was excellent, and the halibut was the best we have ever tasted. I had the rockfish wrap which featured a sweet/spicy sauce and the coleslaw served inside the wrap. It was SO good! Our friends had the fish and chips - which can either be ordered with rockfish or halibut. The rockfish is tender and moist while the halibut is firm and sweet. It's out of the way, but worth hunting for. The prices were reasonable compared to other seafood offerings we saw while traveling in Alaska. The ANB Hall alone is worth visiting, and you won't be disappointed by the great seafood and the enthusiastic service.

I was in Sitka for business and had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel. I had their "Classic Breakfast" which was very good, eggs over easy, crispy hash browns and two large juicy sausage. Lunch was their "Blues Burger" and fries, very very tasty! I was somewhat disappointed with dinner. I ordered their "special" which was rock cod with rice and oriental vegetables. The plate looked beautiful, the vegetables were fantastic! But the taste of the rock cod was a little flat. I told the waitress that if there had been more sauce on the fish it may have tasted better. Overall my stay at the hotel was positive but at almost $200.00 a night (winter rates) I might have to stay elsewhere next time.

Year round waterfront dining, large deck overlooking the harbor. Featuring, Locally made Pelminis (Russian dumplings), Hump Island Oysters, Grass Fed organic beef and chicken burgers, Alaskan Chowder, local catch salmon and rockfish burgers, and great sal
We stopped in for lunch and had burgers and drinks. Our server was very friendly, even allowing me to order half fries and half onion rings when he saw I was indecisive about which to get with my burger. The restaurant is slightly off the beaten path, but still easily in walking distance from the center of town. And it sits by the water, which is nice. (You can sit inside or outside.)

This spot is conveniently located if you have arrived on a cruise ship as it's sort of across the street from the tender dock area. The visitors center (across another street) also recommended it when we were looking for a spot for an early lunch/brunch on a Sunday. It started off great. We got a table outside on the deck since it was sunny and warm enough to be outside in a t-shirt. Service started off as prompt. We decided to split several items and at first the fried halibut chunks were tasty, substantial, and fried nicely. Then we waited for quite a long time before our server came by to tell us that there was a little accident in the kitchen involving the rest of our order ending up on the floor, so they were (thankfully!) remaking everything. When the rest of our order arrived, it was good but not fantastic. We got a crab and cheese melt sandwich that was alright, although the veggie of the day (green beans) was really excellent -- nice sweet beans with butter. The fried oysters were lightly coated and pan-fried, which was good, but they were paltry in number. The sweet potato fries were average. It was a serviceable meal but nothing to repeat or recommend. With the exception of a long wait after our first dish arrived where we didn't get any attention until the report about the kitchen incident, the rest of the service was very good.

Although I was staying at Totem Square in downtown Sitka, the restaurant provided a van to pick us up and bring us back...a wonderful touch and opportunity to visit a restaurant away from the standard downtown fare.A very nice restaurant with what must be a gorgeous sea view (it was quite foggy the evening of our visit). The menu had many tempting offerings of land and sea at fairly high prices (even for Alaska). I opted for the king (white) salmon with cilantro lime rice and asparagus ($42). It was generously portioned, fresh, well-prepared, and delicious. The accompanying salad bar was the same. For dessert, I had a huge scoop of fantastic marionberry sorbet, which was a good deal at $3. A $13 (I think) excellent cranberry mule rounded out my meal. Service was also very good.It seemed that mostly locals were at this restaurant, unlike most of the restaurants located closer to downtown Sitka, and it proved to be an excellent choice all around.

One of the few places to get local seafood in Sitka. Small restaurant with good food. Salmon tacos and fish and chips were both delicious. Very nice staff and unlike most places, there is no tipping. They tell you on the menu that they pay the staff a wage that doesnât depend on tips. Love this!
