Recommended and booked by our friendly hotel host this is not a place a casual tourist would stumble upon by accident. In the old and little used inner harbour area, right on the water, Bluehendeschiffahrt is a traditionally presented restaurant. The menu is dominated by fish dishes and these were favoured by my friends. I found that the rump steak was amongst the best I have ever had served. Most of the dishes come with re-fried potatoes (saute style) ample in quantity and quality. There is a choice of locally brewed beers and good German wine to be had here too.The very friendly and competent hostess spoke little English, accepted our efforts at German with good grace and all went to plan! We walked from town in about 20 minutes along a rather derelict but tidy disused quayside beside an overgrown railway line, unbothered by any road traffic. There is road access to the restaurant and some parking on site.Prices are really reasonable and you will not do better in Wilhelmshaven.

The restaurant is located far (approx. 4km) from the center of town, but in the midst of beuatiful locks and harbors. From the outside terrace and the cosy dining room guests enjoy a magnificent view of the old port and a cast iron bridge. The menu is tradional with obviously a lot of choice in seafood. The quality of the ingredients and preparation of the food is good. Nevertheless, we got somewhat disappointed with the dish with coquilles st jacques. It is one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. As the accompanying shrimp were missing in the kitchen at the end of the day (can sometimes happen), this loss in the dish would be 'compensated' with extra scallops. But even under these special circumstances, the kitchen produced a dish with no more than four coquilles st jacques!

This family owned restaurant, my spouse and I came upon while exploring the fishing village of Hooksiel. We became hook to Hooksiel ever since. We wandered into this restaurant for supper one evening in the fall. We were welcomed in and seated into the quaint and intimate space where we sat by table light and reviewed the menu. The menu is cater to local catch and food in season. Please pardon my failure to document the meals we had; but to me honest I don't believe all the dishes will be the same. Well, except for the potato (lol). My husband fried cod and I had a drilled fish suggested by the owner. The entree were served with house salad and potato. We topped it off with beer and Jägermeister. The food was superb. It will be a must visit we return.

We sat outside and had drinks and snacks. Even with a chill in the air, the ambiance was wonderful. The location is right next to the sea and the view makes a great setting for visiting and relaxation. I cannot say how the interior was.
Sehr gute Hotelanlage mit Sauna und Schwimmbad und Esslokal. Sehr zu empfehlen. Wird vom Besitzer pers. geführt und somit alles sauber und ordentlich. Sehr gut für Brunch und Feiern.

Directly opposite the Columbia hotel this unassuming little pub was great with good robust food, charming service and an intimate and cosy atmosphere. The food was great (Schnitzel & seafood) and pre-empted with a "freebie" mixed salad which was delicious. It seemed to cater for locals which is always a good sign. If you're looking for something a little more real than eating in a hotel restaurant, this great little place immediately opposite is perfect. And dogs are welcome!

The first thing that you feel by entering the restaurant is the cozy atmosphere. The menu is good with different entrees, main courses and desserts. The waiters do not speak English, just some words and the menu is not in English, just German. The waiters are most friendly though so it is really not a problem to get what you want! The food is good and delicious and you do get enough....There is a relaxed, nice atmosphere in the restaurant and I truly like to sit and enjoy my dinner in this restaurant in the heasrth of Jever!

The soused herring buns have a gorgeous mild taste. Also, I am addicted to the delicious chilli con carne... Looking forward to stop there at my next acquisition tour.Best wishes from a chatty guy.

This restaurant was so good that we went twice in a week! Their fish is absolutely outstanding. They also catered to our needs when we had to select a dish for our seven-year old who has dietary restrictions. This restaurant is worth a trip to Jever!
