It was a long drive from Quebec to Saint John...we were hungry and tired of having tims and Mcds on the road. Voila! we found this fish and chips place. The server was friendly and the portion size was quite good. There fish wasn't heavy battered so you could taste and enjoy the actual fish. Overall, food was best bang for the buck.
After finding this place on line, we headed there while on route from Saint John airport to St Andrews hoping to find some fresh lobster rolls for lunch as shown on their facebook page. Unfortunately it was closed for the season with it being the end of September. All was not lost however as we enjoyed looking around the place, taking in the scenic view of the Bay of Fundy. The tide was (far) out at the time which made for some nice photos, as did the very colourful painted buoys for sale, which the sign indicated are "original maritime decorations". There were two boxes on a table outside the shop with huge lobster carcasses (around $5 each) and beautiful large scallop shells for sale (25 cents each). I bought two of the shells. The painted buoys are also for sale at $10 a piece. Apparently all of the proceeds go to a hospice. The shop is at the back of what appears to be someone's home. The parking lot is stacked high everywhere you look around with blue and yellow lobster traps. I think this would be a great place to stop for a take out lobster roll or other seafood and I imagine they also sell fresh lobster to go. I'd call them before going just to make sure they're open though. If you have found this review to be helpful, kindly let me know by clicking below.

The show was great, excellent talent! We were very surprised at how musically talented everyone was, too! If you are not easily offended and like a bit of crude comedy this is the show for you. Great service and quick considering the number of people that were at the event, however the food was just OK. Still totally worth the money!

Very casual spot to enjoy comfort food. The counter service was excellent and patient as we tried to decipherer the best value on their menu. Portions are very substantive, and the French fires are exactly what you want when you choose to indulge. Enjoy!

We were looking for a âdinerâ for some home cooking and homey environment. We found it. The owner Marge was super friendly. We had pancakes, poached eggs, home fries, English muffins. Fast service and great food! AND reasonably priced. About 7 miles from downtown St. Johnâs. Worth the effort to drive there. Nice experience.

Conveniently located on Bayside Drive in Saint John NewBrunswick; directly off the mile one interchange. We're on the left next to the middle school. Ocean blue siding accents our exterior, and we're pleased to offer a truly authentic Atlantic Canadian at
Stopped in Sunday and ordered 2 Two piece Fish + Chips meals. FANTASTIC!!! Came piping hot. Lots of fries (Great, by the way) and 2 LARGE pieces if fish. The food was GREAT!! Not greasy. The tartar sauce + coleslaw were a nice compliment to the meal. The service was also very good. This was our first visit to Downhome Fish and Chips but it won't be our last. Small but good atmosphere. Nice "Atlantic" music. SUPER SERVICE!! THANK YOU!! We'll be back!

One of the original restaurants in Market Square, has a great location along the boardwalk and is accessible through the Pedway (bottom floor of North Market Wharf section of Market Square). Good service.
