Ordered take away and were satisfied with what we got. There was a line up to order so the product was turning over quickly. That means fresh fish and chips. The food was not the best, but it wan't too bad.

We have been to James numerous times and have always had very good food and service. However, when we visited this Wednesday 1st August we were very disappointed with the service. The waitress was sullen most of the time.We both ordered the Cod Loin with Asparagus. After a while the waitress came back and said that the Cod Loin was being replaced today with Hake. My husband decided he would still have the Hake but I decided I would have the Battered Fish of the day with chips, the waitress said today it is Cod. After a while the waitress came back and said she was wrong and that the fish of the day in batter was Haddock. So I said that was OK, She CONFIRMED that my husband was now having the Hake with Asparagus and I was having the battered Haddock with chips. When it came to the table the HAKE was served with Broccoli !!!We called the waitress over again but the manager came instead. We relayed the saga to her and that in fact Cod Loin with Asparagus was 'OFF' the menu and instead an 'ALTERNATIVE' of Hake and Broccoli should have been offered at the outset when ordering instead of all the nonsense & coming and goings with my husband finally getting a completely different meal to the one he ordered originally !! She asked my husband if he enjoyed the meal which he said yes, so she then said 'For the inconvenience i can offer you a free coffee...........' She completely missed the point. We paid and left. Sad, such a shame but it has put us off, if the manager cannot see what the problem is then who can.We were sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your recent experience at James Seafood Bar. As you have said, usually both our service and our food is at a high standard, and on this occasion we are sorry this was not met. Please be assured that your queries have been noted and passed on to our Director of Food who is looking further into the matter. We do hope to welcome you back to James Seafood Bar again in the near future.
