We were keen for lunch and had heard great reviews from friends and online about Samos Fish and Chips. On arrival the store smelt strongly of old oil that penetrated every part of it, causing my partner to step out cause it was that bothersome. We ordered and the food was soon ready. When we opened it up 5 min later at a nearby park we were again strongly intoxicated by the smell of old oil on the fish and chips, it affected the flavour of the batter and ruined the taste. We ate due to hunger but didnât finish it and donât intend on going back.We appreciated that the store had been around for a long time and a pillar of the Rockhampton takeaway community but to us on that day, it was disappointing.
I was dubious heading to a restaurant in a motel, it's not always a sign of great food. I was concerned unnecessarily though. The staff were delightful, and the seafood was delicious and well priced. While it's not going to win any interior design awards just yet, the soft sounds of sea shanty songs added to the atmosphere. Best moment, though, was a pirate (dressed as such) coming out of the kitchen and having a chat to the table with the young boy next to us. Our waitress told us that was the chef. That made me smile. What a fun place!

We ordered the usual chinese where no menu is needed. i.e.. Beef in BlackBean sauce, Braised King Prawns and vegetables, a large special fried rice and4 dimsims and 4 spring rolls. Everything was delicious and plentiful for the three of us. We will definitely be returning to taste probably the same order again. Thank you.

Tried here as looked to be popular, it's just in a convenient location is all that draws you in. We ordered a seafood basket for 2 ($29.90) and an extra piece of sweet lip for $8.50. Totally disappointed with what we received. The chips were underseasoned to the max, very dry, but the seafood... well... prawns were dry over cooked, calamari rings dry overcooked shrivelled pieces of rubber, worse I've ever seen, scallops, over cooked and batter fell off as soon as touched, the fish well these reflected fish bites you would expect in a kids pack. Nothing wowed us wanting us to return, totally disappointed for what we paid for. Oh an no tartare sauce arrived as advertised in the pack. Give it a miss, best to go to maccas next door if you want value for money.

Ordered takeaway which was reasonably priced. Whilst restaurant area was empty a few people were collecting takeaway meals which usually suggests good food. It was ok but not what I had expected. I feel they may have mistaken my order as I was expecting a nice rich plum sauce but had a very light sauce with pineapple. It was not a sweet n sour and I could not taste the plum.
