La Trocha is built like a pirate ship. Itâs no surprise seafood is a specialty. Aaron loved his mariscada en salsa jalapena, 5950 colones. I enjoyed the casado vegetarian--especially the potato salad, 3400. Our total bill including a Diet Coke and Tropical Te Verde was 11,350 colones, or about $21.21.

The restaurant is actually very nice: interesting decor, great parking lot, polite and uniformed service. However, is a very expensive place, even for Costa Rican standards, the food is bland and amateurish (notwithstanding the grandiose clichés of oversized plates and artistic swirls of sauce) and the (latin pop) music was a tad too loud. No chicha morada or anticuchos, in case you have a specific craving. However, the place has a future, but only if it urgently hires a new chef.

The staff was very attentive and pleasant. Food was nicely presented. Good value for big eaters. Located in the main road of La Virgen, Providence of Heredia, Sarapiqui is not hard to find. Their fried chicken is very good, fresh and flavorful. Nothing fancy but clean. They do serve many other choices than chicken.

This delightful Peruvian Restaurant inside the Marriott Hotel was our favorite place for dinner; and it reminded us of the places we have visited in Peru! Charming rustic decor and atmosphere. All of the steak, chicken and seafood entrees our family tried were superb! The bread was fresh and delicious. House wines were very good. Wait staff was very attentive.

This restaurant has beautiful views of the city and valley. It was a little cloudy as it's the rainy season, but still lovely. The food was quite good. There's traditional Costa Rican food, but also some more traditionally meat and potato dishes. What we ate was very good. It's definitely Tican.

Although I live nearby, I had ever been to Banco--a serious oversight on my part. Friends took me there for a recent birthday and I loved it--can't wait to go back. It's obviously a seafood place--the name means the Bank of Seafood. I had the octopus in garlic and loved it. The prices are reasonable, the service attentive, and there is ample parking. Don't miss it!

We hope to become the best Peruvian restaurant in all of Costa Rica. Our chef has 30 plus years experience and will make your visit completely worthwhile.
This small restaurant is on the way to my vet. Probably I pass by dozens of times, today I decided to stop and give it a try. What a nice surprise, the place is small but neat and the staff very friendly. I had to order my food to go and when I got home the experience was great. I tried Peruvian food in Lima and abroad and all the flavors are on their dishes. We had Arroz Chaufa beef and chicken (one of each) as well the typical ceviche. Everything was delicious, fresh and authentic, I fully recommend this restaurant. My only advice...put some ginger on the Chaufa, it will make all flavors shine even more. As final note, Pasión Peru is a clear example that you do not have to over price food to deliver quality, their prices are affordable and their quality is excellent.

We found this restaurant quite by accident, while looking for a different one, and decided to try it for a Sunday lunch. It's housed in a rustic building with charm, in a beautiful rural area, but very close to both San Jose and Heredia. The food was outstanding. The quality and flavor of the meat dishes we ordered were an amazing surprise, as were the potatoes on the side. We topped it with a great bottle of Spanish wine, and the chef prepared a wonderful crepe with fruit for dessert for us. Though slightly more expensive than the average Costa Rican restaurant, the portions are so large that you may end up taking some home for a second meal, hence our estimation that there is value for the money. We would not hesitate to recommend Casa Azul, and definitely plan to be back.

Manpuku Sushi is a Japanese restaurant and sushi bar, also has a bar and lounge area!
We bought a Yuplon offer to try this restaurant and were very pleasantly surprised. This is the best combination of price and quality sushi we have found in 5 years living here. They have a second floor, live music on some nights and 'happy hour' prices noon to 3 and before 7pm. We're going back.Hello Mr Stewart,Firstable and representing all Manpuku team, we want to thank you for taking some time to write a review about your experience on Tripadvisor. Outstanding restaurant 15 mintues from Allejuah Costa Rica (San Jose Metro). Talked about in Marriott San Jose Forum.
We were greeted as we entered, and the amiable service continued throughout the meal. Tried a new shellfish, cuchibana, in ceviche, which was delicious. Mussels, sort of. Followed by sea bass covered with shellfish. All for $60.00 for two, including drinks. Pura vida.
