Ristorante Pizzeria Coccinella

We had dinner here two nights in a row. We loved the waiter and that probably had something to do with it. This seems to be a local, family run, family friendly restaurant, not aimed at tourists (which we were). We had delicious rocket (arugula) salad with bufalo mozzarella, very good pizza, and even the steak was very good. A local experience. Not the fanciest, but simple and good. My only criticism was the pasta with porcini mushrooms was a little bland. I wouldn't order that if I went back.

Guendalina

We visited the restaurant in March, and the garden dining area, Guendalina, was not open. We did get a good look at it, however, and it's a very attractive space. We ate in the indoor "Disco Restaurant" venue, still part of the same establishment, but with a very different mood - a little bit of Las Vegas in Sicily. Actually, it was fun, and quite unexpected. The food here is superb. We had a seafood feast created by the Conti family's kitchen team, Giancarlo, Danilo and Paride. We had swordfish parmigiana, calamari & fried zucchini flowers for starters, then linguine with red prawns and porcini mushrooms, followed by a perfect salmon filet with "patate viola" (sauteed cubes of purple, nearly black, potatoes, evidently a variety native to Peru). Everything was presented elegantly, as befitted the complex but subtle flavors. With a bottle of locally produced white wine, it was a memorable meal. Gourmet dining in the middle of Sicily!

I love this little lunch spot. It has become my favorite place to eat in Piazza Armerina. You can pick from a large variety of hot dishes behind the counter, including baked pastas, involtini, a large selection of vegetables prepared different ways, seafood, soup, veal, potatoes, etc. When you order, your selection is taken to the kitchen to be reheated. You can also order from a variety of pasta dishes, which are prepared in the kitchen. The chef emphasizes the quality and freshness of local foods. One time he showed me some fresh mustard greens and asked if I'd like to try them. (Little did he know I grow them in my garden at home.) He cooked them up in olive oil with garlic and brought me a large plate. Sosta & Gusta is open daily for lunch, either eat in or takeout. The service is very good and very friendly.

Actually we choose the place because they open already at 6pm, but it turned out to be a very good choice. We had the best grilled gamberoni of the entire trip, 7 giant specimens. The sogliola was very fresh, 7 very small and very tasty fish babies.Good house wine and very friendly staff.

Trattoria Da Gianna

Reviewed By LeNoudeGaia

This small husband and wife run trattoria was recommended by our B&B host and we were delighted with it. On a distinctly cool April night we took one of the three tables indoors and although neither of them spoke any English we got on fine with the help of my wife’s Spanish. The very tasty food is cooked from fresh, was well worth the modest wait and was reasonably priced. No frills but genuine character, with that personal touch.
