Clams and only clams. Fresh from the sea every day and purified to eliminate sand and grit. Hard to find but worth the effort. The place where locals go for steamers.

We stood in their tiny little hallway for over 30 minutes with about 15 strangers and not one of us got seated. There was no hostess to be found. They were not busy. There were many empty tables both inside and outside. Nobody was there to even take any of our names. We left. So did some of the others.

Our tour group stopped here on a Thursday night. Let me first say that feeding lobster to several groups of 50 each would be tough so I understand part of what Iâm about to say. The staff members were very friendly and well organized to handle groups. Great job. Now the food. I ate lobster in several places while in Maine. Here the lobster was the most âchewyâ of any place we ate. Lots of reasons might work here but just saying not the best lobster I had. Neat atmosphere. Get a picture of the roof when you stop.

Big sign out front: Five lobsters for $35. Okay, you think, that's $7 each, not bad. Well here's the deal-- for more than $36 (with tax) when you get home and weigh the lobsters, there are 3.3 pounds among the five lobsters. These are the smallest lobsters, which should go for the cheapest price. Today, mid-priced lobsters were $6.99/lb. For your $35 you would have gotten five pounds of live lobsters buying those. These, cooked and chilled, come in at just shy of $11/lb. Worth the difference? Not even close. Most stores cook lobsters for you at no cost. Shaw's is right down the road and their 1.25 pound lobsters have been $6.99 for weeks.

The only reason they are popular has to be the view and convenient location. The service was not great - kept forgetting to bring things like rolls, water, never got my salad. But worst of all was their complete apethy to food allergies - surprising for a seafood restaurant. After 2 rounds of food coming out where the kitchen ignored the allergy on the order, we told them not to try a 3rd time. What did come out allergy safe was ok but nothing special considering all the other restaurants around the area. Their location by the beach and fort keep them busy, but the location and views are the only redeeming quality of this restaurant.

We came here at the recommendation of the the lady at the visitors bureau. There is parking behind the restaurant. It was in the middle of shops along downtown. My husband had a burger for lunch and I had the seafood salad. It had crab, shrimp as well as lobster. It was delicious. We enjoyed browsing the area after lunch.

A great location. On the dock, the doorstep to the ocean. Fun seating, family-style with long picnic tables. Sunset was nice and people were very friendly. I had ordered whole belly fried clams, nearly $30 per plate. The clams were soggy and limp. I like a little crunch, there was none. I was bummed. Itâs not like it could be returned for a better outcome. This as a very busy, tourist destination and the staff is hurried to get hundreds of orders out. Itâs B.Y.O, which is a plus, no overpriced alcohol. But they make up for it with a very pricey menu.

Georgetown Country Store is a genuine old-fashioned general store serving the residents of this particular Maine peninsula, where there are no supermarkets. Within the store, there's a small counter at the back with, I think, four stools, and then, at the front, the sunporch has four or five "dining" tables. You order at the counter, pay at the front of the store, and then take a seat. The rather taciturn woman at the counter then brings the food to you. Two of us had the fried clams, which i must say could have been better. Batter too thick, rendering the dish edible but not perfect. Fries were just OK. We also had some fish chowder which, while 80% potatoes, was better than the clams, and more authentic, with non-thickened broth like it ought to be. One of us had a good egg salad sandwich which he enjoyed. On other occasions, we've had lobster rolls here, which are really excellent. The setting is fine, along the road. Perhaps the best thing about the Georgetown Country Store is its authenticity. No pretenses. We'd come again.

I was met at the front door by two smiling waitresses and sat down to have a simple but excellent grilled cheese sandwich with their homemade coleslaw....I also had a taste of a friends blackened Haddock wrap, which was scrumptuous! They have a wide selection of beverages and wonderful baked goods that you can take to go, if your full...I tried the Lemon Cake and would go back just for that. The Coffee was fesh and hot, perfect after a rain. If you are looking for your meal done in 5-10 minutes then go to a fast food place, the foods great and worth the wait! STOP and EAT! LOVE THE RELAXING ATMOSPHERE!!!!!

We sat on the deck, one of the best harbor views. I had the shrimp dinner and my husband had the warm shrimp roll. Both were excellent. Service started a little slow but was very good.
