All seafood and fish in this restaurant were cooked to perfection. The restaurant had an English menu, and although staff did not speak much English, they more than made up for some difficulties in communication with their charm and readiness to help. We had a fantastic evening.

We called into this Family run restaurent on our way back from the Tower, the owners were very friendly & bent over backwards to help us with the menu. This is a place for real seafood ,no nonsense just excellent service from the Bulgarian lassie ,cracking grub.Try the local white wine it is pure nectar.

Visited this place regularly for years due to its fresh seafood and observed a constant run down in quality and people visiting the place over the time. Our last visit was on a Sunday noon. We ordered the special of the house (seafood platter containing shrimps and several sorts of mussels). The mussels were fresh but overcookedOne of us ordered meat which arrived after the rest of us had lunch and the quality was below any standard (burnt, dry - exactly what you don't want when ordering a filet). The waiter tried hard but was just unable to memorise anything we tried to order.I have to admit that the place was well visited, but nevertheless..Getting the bill paid was a nightmare and took another 20 Minutes.Should you ever consider to visit this place, think twice..El restaurante ha cambiado de gerencia.

I've been to this restaurant quite a few times and the food is always amazing. It is a bit pricier than the other restaurants in the city and you can find the same delicious food in many other restaurants, but the food is still great. Planning on returning.

The sea food was great, but the prices are double to other restaurant within 100 miters from this one. For the same quality if not better visit NorOeste Restaurant which is within 100 miters of this one. This location is at the end if the sea port next to a sea food processing plant and the smells can get real bad while you are eating.

Typical cuisine of Galicia. Family atmosphere. Great for business or familiar lunch/dinner, casual snacking.
The Madrileno harkens back to 1935, but the setting and decor could not be more modern. We were seated by the window, which provides a wonderful view of Santa Cristina beach, with windsurfers and para-sail surfers racing back and forth. The appetizers, were excellent: Fried squid and shrimp Spanish style ("a la Romana"), were delicious. Tender and juicy, each retained its own distinct flavor and texture. The scallop pie ("Empanada de Vieras") was everything you could ask for: a melody of flavors sandwiched by layers of spongy pastry.I asked for monk fish in shrimp sauce ("Rape en Salsa de Gambas"), tender and flavorful, approaching the ultimate monk fish. My parents had "mero," a kind of grouper that they report was as delicious as it looked. No salad or vegetables were served with the meal, so you may want to order some with your meal. I skipped dessert for a cup of espresso and a taste of "Orujo." Orujo is the Galician version of Grappa or Schnapps, though for the money it is a smoother, more delicate concoction than its Italian and Germanic counterparts. Alas, I did not pay, so I can't give a good sense of the final tab, but from the prices on the menu, I would say this is a moderately expensive restaurant. Well worth the price.

I have been quite afew times to El Refugio.Although they are famous for their roastbeef, I would not try if coming from the UK.Instead, i would let Alfredo recommend me and for sure you will be happy as long as you are able or ready to pay some 50/60⬠per head. The wine list is extensive and there you can find most of the best wines in Spain.Seafood is also very good, but pricewise, be careful...Indeed, El Refugio is a good place to choose.Alfredo holds there a quite unique paintings collection,Parking (15 cars or so) available.
