Restaurant Berbigao - Nº1 in Sea Food Av. Carlos Emerlindo Marins, 1.275, Jurujuba, Niteroi - RJ
Niteroi is not so interesting if you're in Rio. But at the end of the long sandy beach, before the big strong fortress of Sant' André, you could find this resto, famous for his festival of camarão (shrimps). There are several Berbigao in Niteroi and in Rio. We prefer this one: good fish, rice and shrimps are fresh, the Antarctica is really cold and the bill is honest.

Facing San Francisco beach in Niteroi, this extremely well located restaurant is a delight for the locals, and most of the times undiscovered for tourists!Far enough from the more popular (busier) areas, this lovely seafood restaurant is ample, well lit, a bright and happy atmosphere, with its huge potions and highest quality food attracting both posh and beautiful fashionable people, and visitors-in-swimming-costumes-and-T-shirts alike... We ordered "tilapia with prawn risotto" which in the menu stated "for 2 people" but what came would have easily fed 4 of us, and we were hungry! Don't for a minute imagine though that this mountain of food would have impacted negatively the taste and quality, it absolutely didn't :-) the real danger here is how to avoid over-eating...We ordered starters and main courses, "manjubinhas", calamary, cod-cakes, followed by lobster risotto, tilapia and king prawns, a banquet fit for a king!A place to go once, then return hungry many times! :-9

tenore is a typical so called brazilian " kilo " restaurant, where you take your food on a plate and which is weighed based on the price per kilo. The restaurant has an excellent buffet of many different foods and excellent meat cooked to order. Also there is a buffet with great japanese type of foodGood location right on the main beach road

The best "arroz com polvo e brócolis" and "bolinho de bacalhau" not only from Niterói, but from whole Brazil. Was the first restaurant in Niterói where have eaten 15 years ago!!! Every meal goes through the hands of Sr Mario before being served. Nothing changed.

Paludo Gourmet is along Orla do Gourmet of Niteroi.....there are two Paludos restaurants - one is the gourmet - left side (when facing retaurants) and the Family (self-serve/kilo) retaurant on the right side.Gourmet experience was excellent start to finish. Head waiter of Paludo Gourmet is ver y knowledgeable of their extensive wine list and assisted us with a spectacular bottle of red from Chile. Steak was cooked perfectly and had a baked potato with all the trimmings with steak - a rarity in Brasil. Service could not have been better and food was superior - yes, you will pay a bit extra but the few reais more is worth the superb experience - go for it -

I visited Olimpo recently with my wife and a couple of friends. I found the location excellent, the facilities very good and the menu very enticing. The selection of dishes was excellent, enough to please anyone. I ordered the Sole and my wife went for the Gnocchi with Bacalhau. Both dishes were well prepared and presented. The Sole was also the choice of one of our friends, whilst the other had a steak, and equally enjoyed their choices. We had no desserts, although the options on offers seemed very good, but opted for coffees to keep the calories down. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Paludo is spilt into 2 restaurants, on one side is Gourmet, where you can get a ticket "all you can eat" style buffet, on the other is Familia, where an a la carte menu is served. Familia has a nice atmosphere, where its a cross between an art gallery, and a nice quiet sit down meal. There is quite often live music, but it's normally very quiet background music, so it's not in your face! The food itself is really tasty. The starters are huge, and are easily enough to share amongst a group of friends, and in a way, that's quite a nice thing to do. Steaks and burgers are definite winners here. The wine list isn't extensive, they tend to prefer cocktails here, but the Malbec was brilliant with our steaks that appeared to be half a cow on a plate. All in all, a really good experience that was fairly cheap, with a nice atmosphere and a great meal out.

Living in Rio de Janeiro, I always heard "cariocas" talking about "Gruta de Santo Antônio" and its great Portuguese cuisine. Located in Niterói, on the other side of the Guanabara Bay, it is not very easily reached without some planning. Last May, finally, I experienced this hidden gem of Portuguese gastronomy in Niterói! Ms. Henriqueta Henriques, a lovely lady, and her family honor, for over 40 years, the Portuguese tradition of superb cuisine. A classic restaurant, with gentle service and generous portions (that may be easily shared by two or three guests) complete the scene. Codfish ("bacalhau", in Portuguese) and seafood are the high lights of "Gruta de Santo Antônio", sided by Portuguese top wines. We (four guests) had "Bolinhos de Bacalhau", as starters, and shared, as main course, "Bacalhau à Espanhola" and "Arroz de Camarão" (a shrimp risotto). Portuguese sweets, as desserts, are strongly recommended. Unforgettable! Bon Appétit!Dear,Thank you very much for your comment and your evaluation. To the next !!!
