In June 1991, The Chowder House took its first baby steps on Oneida street in New Hartford. The doors opened as a self-service smoke free restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Jim, his brother Dave and wife Jan, created recipes for beer battered fis
We go to the Chowder House all the time for dinner. They definitely have the best chowder, a wide selection on the menu (including delicious meals for people who don't like fish as well) and very affordable prices. The atmosphere is cozy and quaint with the fish decor. The owner, Jim, is a really nice guy who cares about his customers. The bread is baked fresh every day and they also have absolutely delicious homemade desserts!

Walked in to a friendly smile and were seated right away in a very quiet area. Adam, our server, was the best. Friendly and attentive without being over bearing. My wife had shrimp trio and loved every bit. I had sirloin steak done exactly the way I wanted. Very tender and juicy. Baked potato and tomato and cheese caprese for my sides. All excellent. I have had similar steaks at steak houses that were not this good. We will be back and asking for Adam. We're glad to hear you received amazing service at our New Hartford Red Lobster! Thanks for the kudos!

We are from NYC, so we did not expect to find $39 entrees in Utica. The upside, this is a rooftop restaurant with a recently renovated space. Menu was creative with an open kitchen. While mainly a seafood restaurant, we chose the more reasonably priced option of grilled cheese with short-ribs and the burger priced around $20. Both were good, but not return good.Desserts looked good, but we were full.
