We don't eat red meat, which is a decided handicap in eastern tuscany, so we headed for dei Poeti where most of the menu is fish. We duly enjoyed our fish, with an excellent spinach salad and house wine, but a contorno of fried potatoes turned out to be frozen chips! Never mind. the meal was good despite this.

Having a house in Umbria we were introduced to this retaurant by a friend 5 years ago.Slightly ticked away on a business park, this is certainly not an establishment you'll suddenly stumble upon, but once you've found it we think you'll find it unbeatable. The fixed price lunch @14 euros (including wine, water and coffee) is exceptional value served in a large atmospheric room with efficient and friendly service. The owners are all very much in evidence, working the tables like the true professionals they are.At weekends in the evening the same room transforms itself into the Sesto Canto restaurant by clever changing of the decor, lighting and table settings. The pizzas are to die for,and the pastas and meat dishes are of a high standard, even for this region.A first class, family run restaurant, which is our favourite of the many we enjoy in the Northern Umbria/Eastern Tuscany region.

I really enjoyed the food and wine combination of the white wine, a Pecorino Pasetti which I had with shrimp, black rice and saffron sauce for starters and Home made spaghetti, garlic oil and chilli pepper with cod and chick pea cream for main. Excellent. Looks and feels like a proper wine bar with excellent food.

My wife and I arrived at the restaurant at about 8:30 and although we did not have a reservation the owner was able to find us a nice table inside. The owner and the waitress were both very friendly indeed despite our lack of Italian! There was no written menu and the waitress was very patient as she explained the dishes available. To be honest my wife and I were very confused and didn't really understand what we had ordered but we were very pleasantly surprised with the dishes that arrived. We started with a shared mixed seafood and fish platter which was very fresh and tasty. This was followed by grilled fish for my wife which were three huge helpings of three different types of fish beautifully cooked. I had the pasta Seaford which was more seafood than pasta and was excellent. The house white was very good and reasonably priced. Overall a great experience and highly recommend a visit although my experience could have been enhanced if I was able to speak a little better Italian and fully understood all the dishes available. On the other hand, my wife would lose the entertainment factor of seeing me struggle with ordering in broken Italian!!

We were looking for a quick bite in Monterchi, and our landlords suggested the Greppia... Just the right choice!La Greppia is far from stylish: next to a parking lot, not far from the road, plastic chairs and paper table cloths on mini tables, and a rather bland interior. But: the pizza was excellent, the service very friendly and quick, and the prices just incredibly low.Arriving at 7 pm with our kids, the restaurant and covered outside patio were still empty. At 8 pm the patio was full, mostly with locals. The menu consists of approx. 20 different pizze (from the wood stove, between 3 and 6 â¬, also to take away), a set menu, and a fish/seafood menu only on Fridays. We had pizze: freshly done, good quality. The seafood menu seemed to be the favourite with many of the locals at tables next to us - it seems to be La Greppia's signature dish. For desert we chose "delizie al limone", a lemon sponge cake, because it was the only homemade desert they had - a good choice. The service was quick and very friendly, and easy-going with our kid and toddler. I'd go again anytime for a good value-for-money pizza, or maybe try the seafood.

The menu isn't vast, but everything we had was well cooked and nicely presented. The meats we had were beautifully tender and my partner raved about the two kinds of steak that he chose on our two nights there. The house wines were not expensive and we enjoyed both the red and the white. What I really appreciated is that there was no coercion to order more than you wanted. Some people were eating several courses, whilst others had one. We shared a very nice platter of antipasti and it would have been far too much for one alone. My favourite dish was an excellent pizza (quattro formaggi).. All the staff were pleasant and helpful.

Between Citta di Castello and Sansepolcro opens the beautiful Tiber Valley and Citerna small medieval village dominates. Under a picturesque medieval walkway along the walls is the restaurant Osteria the Owls. Inside the restaurant a pantry of books dedic
In a glorious setting overlooking a magnificent Umbrian valley, this outstanding restaurant offers wonderful food in an artful, somewhat whimsical atmosphere full of art and color. You also can dine outside in the ancient walls enjoying the view. The ravioli with zucchini was the best pasta dish I had in my 10 days in Italy. The menu was creative and the owner very charming and helpful. The restaurant and the town were lucky finds!
