Seriously just stop reading this review and go get the shrimp tacos (tacos de camarón). They’re one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life. The shrimp is fried in a light batter and lightly seasoned to bring out the natural flavors of the shrimp. Sweet, savory, salty, delicious.A few notes on how the restaurant works in case you’re easily confused like me. You walk up to the taquero and place your order. He’ll hand you your food and a slip of paper with what you ordered on it. Keep that. You’ll need it to pay and if you decide to get more food. If you order drinks or more complicated dishes than the simple tacos your waiter will bring those to your table. There’s a bar with different salsas and veggies you can add to your tacos, although honestly the shrimp is so good I don’t think it needs any dressing up.The fish tacos were also good but not as great as the shrimp in my opinion. A little bland compared to other fish tacos I’ve had. But those shrimp tacos, my god. I will dream of those shrimp tacos tonight.

Contramar

Everyone was constantly RUNNING, literally RUNNING INSIDE THE RESTAURANT. Every staff member except the guy who was actually STANDING in the front to check reservation. At 12:30 PM when we arrived only a few tables were full but the running started to happen already in full force. There is No CHEF in the kitchen because no self respecting individual who can call him/herself a chef will cook in a place where the sole objective is to push diners out as fast as possible to make as much money as possible as fast as possible. These are minimum wage earners cooks. We ordered 3 items. A salad that says, "Cucumber, Fava beans, herbs" but contained seriously only 2 fava beans. It tasted ok. The bread was good. Next was a pasta with clams. Here cooking really fast would have worked better but as I said there is no chef, these are cooks who do not know what food is. Pasta was way overcooked, clams had no taste and the sauce was bland. Next was the Contramar's famous fish with two sauces. Here comes again the aim of making money. They did not even scaled the fish because it will weigh a few ounces more with the scales and the price was by weight. The fish was good although for almost $49 (USD) it better be good. As many people here wrote about how fast they push, our waiter tried to take my husband's plate of pasta away while he was still eating. This man usually never loses his temper. He was upset. Just gave a look to the server and I hope he got the message. Did I mention the noise level? Outrageously loud because the tables are almost on top of each other. A horrible place if you are looking for a nice meal for a lot of money for Mexico. At the end we wanted to run too. Run far away and as fast as possible. We did not drink any coffee or had desserts. Went across the street to the small cafe to drink coffee. It was so very refreshing to be away from this ridiculous, touristy spot.

My husband and I came for lunch, we should have taken advice to not eat seafood this far from the coast. The service was really good. We shared the cebcihes samplers - they were fine. Esquites con camaron was really good and then we split Plancha del Mar - the fish and possibly the octopus tasted off and about 8 hours later we were both sick with chills, hot sweats and gastrointestinal symptoms. We had not eaten anywhere else or drank any other place this day and are pretty sure it was from the fish that did not taste fresh in the entrees we ate.
