My father, brother and I went to this lovely restaurant the Saturday night before the largest football game at Heinz stadium and it didn't disappoint my brother or myself. They had a 4 course meal for $75 with many great choices off of the menu so my brother had the Calamari, Caesar Salad, Surf & Turf and dessert. He enjoyed everything that he ordered and wouldn't stop talking about how wonderful the food was. I ordered off the menu and received the Steak Tartar and the Seafood Linguini - both were excellent. Possibly the best seafood linguini I have ever had. The steak tartar tasted delicious - the presentation needs to be addressed as it currently looks like an uncooked hamburger patty on a plate. Perhaps if the beef were chopped instead of minced it would present better. In fact, due to the presentation no one wanted to try it. hahaha but I love steak tartar and had no problems eating it. My father had the special 4 course as well with the crab cake, caesar salad, New York Strip and dessert. He enjoyed everything but his steak and that is the reason for the 4 vs 5 stars. If I could give 4.5 I would. It was not a good cut of beef and at a steakhouse this should not even be a possibility. He explained that the cut was not good and was brushed off. Now in saying that our server was wonderful and attentive, however, there was an issue two tables away that I am sure had him distracted when my father explained about his meat. The atmosphere is very nice and clean. Service is wonderful. All in all a good meal and you will not leave hungry as portions are a very good size. When I go back to Pittsburgh I will eat here again and I would recommend it.Michelle, thank you for visiting and we are glad you enjoyed your meal. We will be sure to share your feedback with our team. Thank you!

The history of McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants began when Bill McCormick purchased Jake's Famous Crawfish Restaurant located in Portland, Oregon, and brought the more than 100-year-old landmark back to life. When asked the secret of how he revit
My wife and I had dinner there tonight and will never go back. We sat for 15 minutes without even being given water. The waiter finally arrived and mumbled a lot about not seeing us sitting there? Our food was just average. I had steak that I ordered medium. It arrived dry and no sign of pink anywhere. I would have sent it back, as I paid nearly $40 for it, but we were never again checked on. We spent $125 for a dinner worth about $40. Avoid this place.

Being from Chicago, I'm fascinated by the rebirth of the cities that used to belong to what was called the "Rust Belt" in the 1960s and 1970s...which did indeed sink to sad depths in those decades.Thankfully, Pittsburgh's resurgance is evident in many ways...which include this delightful eatery in an old industrial area just east of the downtown along the Alleghany River.Everything we had on the menu was great(including the service...enjoy!

Conveniently located in downtown Pittsburgh, within walking distance of the Convention Center & four major downtown hotels. A Pittsburgh favorite for over 20 years. Recipient of the Wine Spectator of Excellence 1995-2006 and The Dirona Award 2000 - 2006 (
My mate and I had the pleasure of having lunch here one day during a recent visit to Pittsburgh. Yes, the place is very, very nice, old school club style, excellent waiters, and top quality, top presentation culinary offerings. My mate had a surf and turf like plate, with great shrimp (Wild GA Shrimp, I hope) and steak, all nicely done and served what you might call French style, with plenty of sauce. Lots. On the other hand, my Mahi Creole style dish was excellent. Perfect. All was well; happy to be there. Top end of Ameriican/European style food. I might rather have a top end pho ga, however.

We canât say enough about this classic Pittsburgh restaurant from the 1900s.The warm homemade garlic rolls with butter or salmon pate was an amazing start to our dinner experience. The food was elegantly presented and uniquely prepared with special vegetables, etc.The restaurant was fully booked, but you would not have known based on the great service that was provided by the entire staff. The valet service and cost are high but for special occasions this is the best.Try to request the riverfront dining area for an amazing evening dinner experience.

We wanted a nice sit-down dinner on our last night of a long Steelers weekend. Steak & seafood are both featured here & we had a little of both. Our waitress connected with us immediately -- it was a quiet Sunday evening. She was welcoming & carefully explained the menu, each unique item & especially appreciated -- she said the sides should be plentiful if we had 2 -3. The shrimp was a preparation I had never had, swordfish was meaty, steak & lobster rocked ! Lemon drop martinis added bonus as the bartender had a heavy hand.

We had a nice dinner here. We did not have a reservation, so they sat us the bar area. It was comfortable there, and we had a lovely waiter. Food was good, but a bit pricey for what it is. We were celebrating our anniversary, so the waiter brought us a free creme brûlée, which was very nice.

We decided a couple nights before that we'd like to try the MBFG. However, we were unable to get a reservation on a Saturday night until later than we'd like (after 8:45 pm). We checked back a couple of times and ended up getting a 7:15 reservation. We drove up Grandview Ave early evening to check out the view from the look out area. It's as awesome as you may have seen it described. It was still early and we decided to go into the restaurant and see if we could be seated before our reservation. Fortunately, they have a nice lounge area with tables near the windows so we could have a drink and enjoy the view. We ended up eating our meal in the lounge and it worked out great. My recommendation is that if you're unable to get a reservation arrive early and try to get a seat at one of the tables in the lounge. You can order off the same menu as the dining room. The view may be a bit more spectacular in the dining area because the windows are floor to ceiling, but the view in the lounge is also great. The dress code is pretty relaxed. Now for the food. Everything was excellent. I had the Halibut prepared with the pineapple butter and it was the best I've ever had. Slightly spicy and the fish was very tender and juicy. My husband enjoyed the lemon Sole and my son ordered the filet. This was one of our best meals and completely worth the price. BTW, the prices are similar to other fine seafood and steak places in other large cities. Thank you for your insightful review. I could not agree more with you that our lounge is a fantastic option for when we are heavily booked in our main dining room. Thrilled that you and your family were able to enjoy our restaurant while in town.
