Marta is one of those places where traditional, unpretentious, cheap but scrumptious food was fairly widely available about 20/30 years ago. Sadly, that's no longer the case; all the former trattorie on the lake (except this one) have upped their prices and upped the so-called quality of the service (waiters dressed 'properly', printed menus, wine glasses with stems -- all totally unnecessary and adopted solely to justify the higher prices) but the quality of the food is inversely proportional to all that. At least this trattoria still calls itself a trattoria and you can sit in the open air by the lake rather than across the promenade, across the park, across the street in a glass case like all the others. But regarding the food, a word of warning: if you want to eat well, skip the antipasti, take pasta with coregone (a local freshwater fish), or in autumn, with porcini mushrooms, and follow that with roast or grilled coregone. The fish is fresh and very well prepared. All the rest is of very mediocre quality and none of it appears to be local produce. That said, it's no cheaper than the coregone, so why bother. The house white is a walk down memory lane for those who remember what white wine from the Lazio and southern Tuscany regions was like in the "good old days", though it may hold less appeal for younger palates reared on the international Chardonnay style. If you belong to the latter category, just order a bottle of Poggio dei Gelsi by Falesco (local, from Montefiascone, home to Est! Est!! Est!!!)

They seem to be saying and doing everything to produce a good meal but when it arrived it was just average. It's like they had looked up in a book what to do but not learnt how to do it.I do not remember you, and I don't know if and when you came. I regret the contents of the review as you express a simple opinion on the fact that we just "copy the recepies written in the books", which is actually something entirely far-fetched. You could spare you this offensive expression, commenting simply that you don't like the dishes.After all we can not like to everyone

The Pescaturismo "The Fisherman's Hut" is directly handled by two fishermen. The best place to taste the fish of Lake Bolsena. Directly on the shore of the lake. All organic and natural. Boat trips on the lake characteristics.

What a find! Riccardo was the most amazing host, despite having had an accident and 20 plus stitches in his leg the previous day. The setting is enough itself, and we let them just feed us. We were absolutely stuffed, and the bill was absurdly low.thank you for your compliments .Flatter us .We are very happy to have passed some pleasant hours .We hope to see you soon .

Visited in November so not many tourists about , however the restaurant was busy and did a good trade in seafood , we went for the Steak and Pasta dishes which were good if unremarkable , the chips were delivered to the table 5 minutes before the steak ?? Staff were attentive and we paid 65 Euro for Five People which was reasonable for Five mains , Two desserts and Four Coffee .Decent but unremarkable

Superb views of lake bolsena and excellent food. We ate twice at lunch and on both occasions the food was superb. Ravioli to start followed by a seafood platter,washed down with a local recommended wine. Always busy so booking recommended. Parking opposite easy and very cheap- we combined with a day relaxing at the lake. Not as cheap as other places but well worth a visit and would imagine beautiful in the evening.

We discovered this restaurant in August 2012 while we stayed in the area for 4 nights. We ate there twice and loved it. It's elegant and charming all at the same time. We've only eaten outside but the ambience was so nice and refreshing. The antipasto that we ordered was so delicious and creative That i went back a few days later just to order a couple of jars of the zucchini that had been a part of it. My spaghetti with clams was amazing and plentiful. We also went back this year and had an equally wonderful dinner and made a point to say hello to the owner's daughter who actually remembered us. One of my favorite places in the lake area not to be missed or passed by.

We ate here two nights, it was recommended to us by the owner of the B & B we were staying in. We weren't disappointed! The first night we had the set fish menu at 20 euro pp, a mixture of starters, two first courses, main course of fried and grilled fish, potatoes and salad. The second night we ordered spaghetti alle vongole and swordfish, excellent. Waitresses efficient and pleasant. Would definitely go back if in the area.

Could not have been better. I dream of returning. Every dish is a different mind blower. Go with a large group and order 1 of everything to share. I hope to return to this countryside treasure every few months.
