It was great to re-visit this Mar del Plata classic, for locals with a good palate, traditional restaurant. Food is unpretentious with excellent attention to ingredient quality, portions are generous. Wine list has improved since our last visit, service is sober but super efficient. Pricing, while not budget offers better value than a couple of competitors which we also visited during this long-weekend trip with the family.Overall, I think that La Casa Vieja is one of the best kept culinary secrets in Mar del Plata. It doesn't get the press and the hype of other places but matches and outshines many of these better known places. In my opinion, this restaurant is not to be missed if you visit Mar del Plata.

I was walking by the street and I saw a hostess. She was with a chart, and a couple of families waiting to get in there. My wife usually prefers to choose places if they are full of people but I prefer to avoid crowds. In this opportunity I was amazed of the existence of a structure. I take a look and got a glimpse of a couple of things: a maitre, runners and waiters all over. Mar del Plata is a city but it´s not Buenos Aires. Still today it´s difficult to find a restaurant where you can recognize a complete organization. I made my mind and we walked inside. They gave us a table right away and from the beginning to the end I got nothing but excellence. Great service, great kindness and good food. Maybe the food wasn´t the best thing, but still an excellent whole experience. My wife took a Merluza that had too much lemon, and I got a delicious stuffed with a seafood combination pasta. It was a great deal. Good prices.Maybe the best place I´ve been in Mar del Plata.

What an incredible place run by some of the warmest and most genuine people that we met during our time in Argentina. Marcelo and the Pontevedra family welcomed us to a very intimate and lively New Year's Eve. The food (far more than we could eat) was delicious, the service was perfect, and the atmosphere was genuine and celebratory. After dinner and a midnight champagne toast (the first of MANY to come), Marcelo put on some music and we all danced, drank, sang, hugged, and wished one another "Buen año." It was a wonderful meal with equally wonderful people ... one that we won't forget. Thank you!

We were a party of 7 and we had an amazing dinner. The scalops and the chernia (A kind of bass) can be recomended. The wine list is not big, but has plenty of reasonable options. The cost in USD is low.

This restaurant has been around for 50 years they make traditional basque food, the waiter suggested garlic shrimp it was delicious the main course pescado a la Vasca was excellent too. The price was fair a great find I hope I will be back. Don´t expect fancy modern decor or fusion food its just great no make up food in a local setting.

Since 1957 offering the best in seafood.
Rather cheap looking place, but servings are abundant, fish is fresh and well prepared. Waiters are quite nice and efficient. Sea food is their specialty. I've been there before and I continue to pop around when in the city. Gambas al ajillo and rabas (shrimp with garlic and deep fried breaded squid) are out of this world. Wine choice is not very ambitious but nevertheless sea food is a must. I've visited many fresh fish restaurants in Mar del Plata and this one's quality-price ratio is above average.

Nice seafood restaurant, visited by the people of Mar del Plata mostly, you have to book a table or wait.
We had lunch at Sur on a Sunday and were not disappointed. Excellent shrimps breaded with coconut and very good Salmon Sur. We will come back.

We were the first to arrived but we had to wait an hour and half to be served. We told them twice that the kids food should be served as soon itâs possible. But they didnt do it or cared. The Restaurent opens at 8:30pm so u can imagine how hungry the kids were.My sons pasta was very salted and we did mention it to the waiter. My plate was ok but also too much salt. Over all not an experience I care to repeat. Poor for the service.
