Sushizanmai Yurakucho

After strolling around finding the best restaurants in the area were all booked, we stumbled upon this chain sushi ( and everything else ) restaurant. Reception and service, absolutely charming. 5 star. Sushi, average at best. It is not quite value for money compared to other joints, unfortunately for them. Would I go back? Probably if need be, but without enthusiasm. What I found amazing is that today at Tsujiki Market, where we had a fantastic Donburi meal at another place where we were the only non locals, the branch of this chain had the longest line of waiting tourists. Why anybody would want to do that, is beyond my comprehension.

Here is so crowded with local people. Because this restaurant provides good meal with cheap price. Especially on Saturdays people are waiting lines more than a hour to enter here at 4 pm. It's opening time. And there're some regulations here, you'd better confirm them beforehand. I recommend you to come here after 8 pm. Because there are some vacant seats.

Toriton Tokyo Solamachi

We stayed near Tokyo Solamachi while in Tokyo so this was one of the restaurants we had to try. We went there for the first time on a Sunday, about 1/2 hour before it opened and there was already a long line that went around the corner and wound back to the front. We waited about 1 1/2 hours before the 4 of us were seated at the counter. My husband and younger son are vegetarian so they mostly ordered the Japanese omelette sushi (tamagoyaki) and cucumber rolls (kappamaki). My older son and I tried many of the different nigiri but our favorites were the various salmon and tuna sushi. The cuts of raw fish are thicker and larger than anything we've had in the US. And the prices are really cheap (130 yen for the vegetarian dishes and between 290 yen and 630 yen for the fish and more exotic dishes). You can also make your own cups of green tea free of charge. Every 15 minutes or so, the chefs would call out a special priced dish holding a tray of them and you can try those if you want. Also, if a dish you want isn't circulating on the conveyor belt, you can write the number on a order form and give it to a chef for them make it special for you! At the end of your meal, the waitresses come by and scan the stacks of dishes and print out a bill for you to pay at the entrance. Our first meal cost around US $50 for the 4 of us! Obviously a lot of those were the cheapest white dishes but that was really cheap for a sushi meal. We loved the restaurant so much that we came back the next evening where the wait was about 40 minutes. We will definitely be back if we are ever in the area again!

Andy's Shin Hinomoto

Had a feast here and loved every bite. We ordered mostly from their hand-written specials of the day menu. The king crab legs were our favorite - they were HUGE and fresh. Best I've ever had. Highly recommend the scallops and chili prawns as well. This place is a must if you are visiting Tokyo, and I'm pretty sure you need reservations because this place seems popular with the locals! Loved the food, the vibe and Andy himself - an overall perfect meal!

Good atmosphere, very decent prices and good portions, the day dinner menu was enough for one hungry person for 1700 JPY tea included. Only locals here and very basic English spoken, a very local experience. The place only has bar chairs, little and packed but a good bet.

We Waited for about 30-40 mins but totally worth the wait. We even cancel our next day dinner and go back again! Only 4 options at the menu. 1080,1480,1980 and 3500. The difference is added snow crab for 1480 and added uni for 1980 and the 3500 is dinner specials with limited stocks. The soup is sooo delicious and it’s a nice touch on a cold winter night in Tokyo! After you finish the rice simply put the bowl back on the counter and ask for soup ( you can ask for extra rice too! )

Was taken to this restaurant by our tour guide. The main restaurant was very busy so went to the sister branch nearby as the queue was shorter. We sat at the counter and watched the chefs preparing the sushi. The salmon was delicious. So fresh that I won’t want to eat shop bought back in London again. Good value too.
