This was a good but somewhat confusing experience. The food is delicious and each of the courses is âfine diningâ quality. However, the menu concept and service doesnât match the food. First they handed out a so-called Tasting menu where we could chose 3 or more courses. It looked like all courses were of equal size, but when we were ordering, they pointed out that the pheasant was the only proper main. Why not make this clear in the menu?It also was possible to get an ordinary menu, but that we had to ask for... With some fine tuning on concept and service, this could be a top score!

Excellent quality food and very good value for money. Had the best beef tartar I have ever had. The fish main course and puff desert is surprising good. Only disappointment is that it is a bit short staff and take some wait to order.Highly recommended.

Landgoed Rijckholt is a pretty rural estate, easily accessible and close to the sea and the Veerse Lake. This location offers a perfect location for a family weekend or a family reunion. The bed and breakfast has 21 rooms, a lovely peacefull location in t

Travelling back from Center Parcs to Calais we decided to take a detour via Zeeland as Hubby was craving mussels. A lot of restaurants in the area were shut on a Monday but luckily we found the Grand Café de Loods open. There were tables outside and many were filled with people enjoying the Winter Sun. Ample parking in front of the restaurant/café.Inside we were greeted very warmly by the waitress. We chose to sit indoors mainly because the kids didn't want to be cold. Inside is decorated very nicely with lots of Rolling Stones memorabilia on the walls. The waitress spoke excellent English and was very helpful with helping us to decide what we wanted to eat.We chose the local mussels and frites, hamburger, pancakes for the little'un and I had onion soup. Hubby claimed the mussels to be very juicy and plump and my daughter pinched a few from him and agreed. The chips were served in cone with some gorgeous mayo. My onion soup had a massive slice of bread on the top with lots of oozy cheese, delicious. Wine was good too. Was very good value and would definitely return when next in the area

The restaurant has what you expect. Courteous reception, nice atmosphere, surprising taste combinations, fresh materials from the region and some nice wines to go with it and mostly in good combination with the food. They have a little bit too much poohah around the food. According to the elaborate explanations we were fed a lot of 'structures.' It's okay to call it mouse or crumble, etc. The balance needs to continue to swing towards the food quality and not the fuss around it. There seems to be some risk here looking at the repetition of some of the food decorations and the pre-filled base of the dessert. But definitely worth a visit. Some things fairly prized, some steeply prized.

delicious - I had a lamb chop grilled to perfection, with a salad greens, tomato, blue berries. simple tasty healthy portions. they serve a micro brew- quite good. Setting is very special much more authentic than anything in the neighboring village. I would say warm country style, booths small tables and outside under big shade trees. Most important the hosts Maria and Mette that run the restaurant - their genuine hospitality is the real draw. You can also order the famous mussels and fries, it's not every day , best to call ahead +31 6 39655758. I had it once and the Zeeland mussels are really not to be missed. If you are serious, there is an amazing carpentry wood shop next door. The owner Kees if you catch him in a good mood he might show you around, he has a wealth of wood hand tools (really museum quality- just the collection of hand saws in of itself is impressive).

When you go to a restaurant which is open about its Michelin ambitions and its chef is considered a talent by various publications, you have high expectations. These were partly met when having dinner at this restaurant. The restaurant is located near the small harbour or Wolphaartsdijk and there is reserved parking (ask them to open the fence) for the guests. There is a small outdoor (for a pre-dinner drink) and the view is on the Veerse Meer and the boats. Although the restaurant was almost full the music was too loud and very noticeable. No need for music in a relatively small space. The tables however are perfectly placed, enough privacy for a business conversation. The guests are a mix of different nationalities and business/family/friends setting. Please note they are closed on a number of weekdays, so plan your visit carefully. Let me start with the food. There is a fixed 4-course menu, which you can extend with another 4-courses, there is a wine and a juice (!) arrangement, desert can be exchanged by cheese (against extra cost) and there is a separate coffee/tea menu. What I will remember of the food is that it is a lot of different tastes.the starters are with 8 (also bread with butter) far too many too remember given the very different tastes, same with all friandises accompanying the tea and coffee. The chef does not need to prove himself, he can cook, that is clear, but it all comes across as being too much. Keep it simple, keep the standard high and do not overdo it. The dishes were original, the sizes spot all, the quality fresh and a good flow between the courses. Unfortunately, the balance with the serving staff is a very different story. Used to the quality of staff in similar type restaurants in other cities around Europe, this is not what people expect at a venue like this. Over the course of the evening, we had 11 different people at our table. Nobody seemed to âownâ our table and we could tell. They clearly all had different standards of communicating (some spoke so quietly we did not even hear them properly), knowledge (some shared what you had, but struggled explaining what exactly what was when you asked), no uniform dress code with visible tattoos (ladies, pay some attention to hair, nails and makeup) and above all it did not always feel genuinely interested in us guests when asking how it tasted. Such a shame! This restaurant has potential, but please pay attention to key details - when I went to the bathroom, there were towels on the floor (should not happen!), when we left a wrong coat was offered. As the owner, be selective in who deals with your guests. It is key in giving a first impression! I will be back for food, but expect an upgrade in the service, and am sure I am not the only one who frequents similar type restaurants.
