Booked a table for 5 and were shown to an 8 seater square table - impossible to hold a conversation, so just added a chair to a 4 seater table. And this was just the start of a very disappointing evening.Menu has been changed and is very confusing - normally with a main meal choice is offered of one starch (rice, chips or potato) and a choice of veggies or salad. But not at this establishment. Two starches offered together or a salad or a veg. If opt for just one of the starches and ask for the veg instead of the other starch we were told this would be charged extra.Well of five different orders where none had an "extra" - where our one guest just asked for chips and no rice, she got that - the fish dish with veg was a pitiful slop of boiled creamed spinach and equally unappetizing looking butternut. Wehre another opted for just veg, veg and chips were given, and where one opted for just a salad, chips were also added. Thankfully there was no extra charge - but very very confusing, and definitely NOT THE NORM.Two starters were ordered and were acceptable. The one main of calamari steak with chips - I have never seen such a miserable piece of calamari. And it was so overcooked if dropped on the floor it would have bounced back up onto the table. This went straight back to the kitchen and no substitute was ordered.A combo prawns and steak, steak ordered medium rare came well done, but being hungry and not prepared to wait was accepted - regrettably - as the sauce was so salty that it was not a pleasure to eat.A cola tonic and lemonade ordered was flat ! the lemonade already poured into the drink and when questioned was told it came out the machine that way. A lime and lemonade later in the evening by another member of our party on assurance of a gas refill on machine, came just as flat -Desserts were ordered, and although nothing exceptional - were fair priced and were the only saving grace on an otherwise very embarrassing evening. With the proliferation of eating establishments in the upper Highway area, this establishment will certainly not be visited again by our group, especially when we have foreign visitors with us.

Popped in for a meal prior to movies. Large restaurant which no doubt is busy at times. We were early and it was very quiet. Table was sticky and needed a good wipe down. Waitron was friendly and told us about Bassa as it was unknown fish to us. We chose table at window which overlooks farm land at rear of Watercrest shopping Centre. Food was average. Onion rings very oily as were chips. Salad contained mostly lettuce. Did not enjoy the bassa. Wonât hurry back Dear dacabs, Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. We're so sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your meal experience with us at John Dory's Watercrest Mall.If you wouldn't mind forwarding this review on, together with your contact details to [email protected]. We'd really like the opportunity to discuss this further with you and hopefully turn it around. Kind regards,John Dory's

Jack Salmon is a Fish & Grill restaurant and aims to serve only the best dishes. The sea purely inspires our menu and set-up. We are the perfect definition of how the sea meets land. Our chefs are well experienced in the best preparation method of each me

We had the great displeasure of having dinner at Olive and Oil last night for my motherâs birthday. Where the only good thing we experienced was the food (to a small extent), the rest was definitely not up to scratch.Starting from the reservation, my father phoned last Friday to reserve a table for 6 on Monday. When we arrive nothing has been arranged and no record of the reservation. We were then left standing around while they had to âmake a planâ for us and set a table. We were all taking advantage of the Monday night Pasta/Pizza special, which is a bargain donât get me wrong! However out waiter was not well trained and came across very rude, he demanded that we had to order our food FIRST before getting our complimentary GNTâs? I have never experienced this before and then 20 minutes later we received our drinks and were asked AGAIN for our meal choices. Our menus were not collected from the table; neither were the unused wine glasses. So we sat with a pile of extra stuff on the table taking up unnecessary space until we physically collected everything and handed it to our waiter probably 10 minutes before the food arrived. When we received our food it was very obvious that at least 4 of our meals had been sitting long in the overpass. To the extent where a film had formed over my pasta (yuck!) and another pasta was almost stiff as it had dried up on the top layer, almost as if it was microwaved? All of this aside, for the majority of the night the waiters (and what I presume was the manager on duty) were all standing in the lounge area in the front of the restaurant having a fat conversation as well as being on their phones. To try get any of their attention was like pulling teeth! All in all, a very disappointing dinner! From what used to be one of my favourite restaurants.

After John Dory's Westville closed down I had to find a new Sushi restaurant so tried Kloof. The staff are extremely friendly and management were so friendly when we realized that I had a problem with my club card. It was all put right immediately. There are new items on John Dory's sushi menu so we had great fun trying them all. Service was a tadd slow but then that is what happens on a Wednesday. Our only slight niggle was that the restaurant was very noisy which is not the staff's fault. Acoustics were not thought out when the restaurant was revamped. If you go at lunch time it is not as bed.Hi there Jennylee44,Thank you for taking the time to review our family restaurant. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed our great customer service and our delicious selection of sushi. We look forward to having you back again, soon! Kind regards,John Dory's
When you walk in you are instantly transported into a Mocambique holiday vibe. having had a busy day this was the perfect end to the day. Its not fancy, but its clean, the food is reasonably priced, its very good food, you can bring your own wine, the staff are extremely pleasant and the service is fast, really fast! We had good old Hake and chips, the portion was really big, the hake was beautifully cooked, the batter recipe is worth stealing, the chips were fresh, good old proper potato chips, the vegies we had as a side order were fresh, perfectly cooked. we finished off with kahlua don pedro. the table next to us, the lady ordered the prawns, raved about them, the man had the linefish, he said it was superb, we left them sharing a very large malva pudding and custard. very very pleasant evening indeed, we will definitely be back
