We were there for two days for lunch and dinner and we ate very good without spending so much. Prices are right but the difference from other restaurants is the quality, at zan view you eat high quality, service is very nice. You must try pizza

Stopped in for lunch with colleagues, generally an ex-pat sort of hang out. Ordered the mixed-seafood tagliatelle, excellent flavors, but oddly lacked any "whole" looking seafood, mostly chopped. Also got to taste two different pizzas, both really good but could have been a bit crispier. They tended to both be a bit heavy on the toppings making the center crust soggy. Friendly staff, nice inside and out.

I loved this restaurant! When I travel I try to eat at different restaurants as much as possible, but we ate at 6 Degrees South almost every night during our 5-day, 4-night stay. The first night in Zanzibar we went to this restaurant and absolutely loved it! The food was great and it has a great view of the ocean. The waitstaff are also extremely friendly and accommodating. They made sure we enjoyed the food and weâre having a good time. We often tried other restaurants during lunch, but never liked the food as much as this place so we always returned for dinner. If you eat here you will not be disappointed! Hi, thank you for the awesome review and 5 stars! We're so pleased you had a great time with us, and that we were able to welcome you to our restaurant during your entire stay! Thank you for recommending us - we hope to welcome you back to 6 Degrees South very soon!Kind Regards,Sabeeha

Breezing terraces for both restaurant and bar, Mediterranean food, pizza, wine bar
We were a bit tired of seafoods, Indian and Swahili cuisine so we looked up where we could eat good pizza, and there are several choices out there , we chose this one since itâs the closest to our hotel. But oh boy, we got lucky this time with out relying on any reviews or hotel recommendations etc... The host was friendly, the head waiter was very accommodating and atmosphere was very good. The entrance is filled of spices and gift items you can buy for your people back home. Then you come to a narrow staircase, the landing areas were nicely decorated and the restaurant itself with the tea room or lounge area. The highlight though was the pizzas we ordered, proper pizza oven, the experienced and friendly -Ali- who prepared the pizzas for us. Highly recommended for pizzas when youâre in the area of Stone Town. Five stars for the staffs and the pizza. We will definitely drop by for pizza when in town again.

We arrived in the area on my wife's birthday and wanted somewhere special to eat that night, we found this restaurant whilst walking along the beach and thought it looked great for lunch. The manager told us it was not open during the day but that they were open in the evening so we booked and returned later well the wait was worth it as they had laid a special romantic table for us and had prepared a gourmet platter of local seafood, lobster, rock lobster, prawns, line caught fish and crab too, the waiter was very attentive and professional which made for an excellent evening and celebration, we will be back not just for the food but also because the accommodation looked excellent, thank you

The Emerson Spice Rooftop Tea House Restaurant serves a set Seafood based, five course 'Taste Safari' Degustation Menu prepared daily by our Zanzibari Chefs. The Sunset Hour is an integral part of the experience, so Diners are encouraged to arrive at any
The climb up to the restaurant was over 4 flights of stairsIt was a unique experience Roof top dining With traditional music Food was average to goodVery limited menuGo for the experienceThank you for reviewing us here - and for pointing out the four flights of stairs, one is certainly worth ones calories reaching the tea house! Both the Emerson hotels are located in heritage buildings within the UNESCO listed Stone Town, so elevators are off limits for us. Mentioning the traditional music, We believe you are referring to our sister hotel Emerson on Hurumzi though, most nights musicians from the Show Countries Music Academy perform traditional Tara music in the tea house restaurant, accompanying a set menu designed to marry the culture and style of the building with the distinct culinary heritage of the era.

Roof top restaurant overlooking the old city of Stone Town and the indian ocean. The Taarab, offers scrumptious breakfasts by day and transforms into a romantic, atmospheric a la carte restaurant by sun-down offering outside terrace and indoor sittings.
Let me start off saying I love food. Anywhere I go I search and want to ensure I have the best meals. I came across Taarab and decided I wanted to bring my family of 8 here. Being from the USA, you have to temper expectations when you visit countries like Zanzibar. Essentially it was a bad experience from the start. We waited 20 minutes to get our water - we were the only customers in at 3pm on a Wednesday. Then our bread came out cold, and we had to send it back. After about an hour, our food came out from the kitchen, we ordered everything, from appetizers to their famous seafood platter ($70USD). EVERYTHING was terrible. I called out the chef, and I made him hold our appetizer, it was a fried lobster roll, I explained to him how is something cold when itâs fried? I then made him hold a fry, same thing. The chef was pretty baffled. He offered to bring us food, but letâs be honest here, we all know he wouldâve gone and thrown it in the microwave. I had a really really bad experience here, I walked up and left the restaurant angrily after giving them a piece of my mind. I didnât pay for anything because nothing was eaten. I spoke to the Hilton staff downstairs before I left, but I hope you have a better experience than I did. I really wish I wouldâve just gone to Emerson, but hey you win some and lose some!Dear Anil L,So sorry to read about your disappointment. We appreciate both positive and negative comments as it help us improve our guest experience. We are sorry you did not fall into the very satisfied guests and we apologize for the shortfall in the service and we are so sorry to learn that the experience did not live up to your expectations.Just to let you know, The fried lobster roll is part of the cold salad section and it is served cold. However our Deputy General Manager did talk to you and agreed to offer you and invite you for dinner also but as you mentioned you were angry and just walked away.Cuisine not being an exact science it can happen that one can have a less exciting experience than others. What you might have heard regarding our Roof top Taarab restaurant is that we have a huge a la carte menu and that our cuisine is delicious as this is what 99% of our customers are reporting. We are however keen to reach everybody's satisfaction therefore if passing by our restaurant again please allow us to give it an other try, knowing your expectations, we shall be happy to a special exercise for you.Culinary yours,Chef Shafeek

We stopped there after wandering the streets of Stone Town as we needed a break from the many sellers. The restaurant has tables on a terrace and fans which make the stay more pleasant. We didn't feel like Japanese food and come across this place by chance. Our waiter (Franco Rosso) was really good and navigated us through the menu: we had an amazing tuna carpaccio and fried octopus with a refreshing beer. There is a good variety of food including chicken dishes, salads, sushi.
