Reviews on Seafood food in Isle of Lewis, Scotland, United Kingdom. A visit to the Isle of Lewis is like stepping into the pages of a Scottish fairy tale. Everywhere you look, medieval structures remind you of the island’s remarkable history. The legendary Callanish Standing Stones poke up from the ground like a strange and massive stone city. The Blackhouse, the Shawbost Norse Mill and Kiln, and the Carloway Broch all offer insight into what life on Lewis used to look like. Cheerful Stornoway boasts a charming, colorful harbor and several lovely restaurants and pubs.

Went for lunch having visited the Callanish Stones. We were the only people in the restaurant. Ordered three fish & chips, a chickenburger and a lamb shank. My lamb shank and mash was excellent. The others said their food was fine although not as good as at the Port Beach House in Ness the day before. There is good Belhaven on draft and a comfortable seated area close to the restaurant in a sunlounge.OK to eat especially if you are in the area visiting the Stones or Broch

Our second trip to the fabulous Sonas Cafe at Port of Ness. The menu was amazing, although we donât eat fish and had just had brunch, late holiday rise. So we had the soup, which was nice although a little watery, but bowls were huge, too big. The real chips are always a favourite. Followed by gorgeous baking and Icecream for my Daughter. The staff were all lovely especially with my Daughter. And the view was even better. Thank you Ladies. We will be back.

Visited during a holiday to Harris as we wanted to try the smoked fish. We arrived towards the end of the day so they had less produce left but we bought some of the kippers and other smoked fish. I would recommend getting there early in the day and it's a definite must if you like smoked fish.

Due to bad weather and cancelled ferries the opportunity arose to visit The Boatshed not once, but twice at the end of our Lewis holiday. It's classic styling is very comfortable, and the fact it's casual makes it a winner for us. The locally sourced food was delicious on both nights and the ambiance makes it a pleasure to stay and have relaxed meal. The staff are friendly and helpful, a special thanks to Richard who was especially excellent and was everything a great waiter should be. We look forward to another holiday here and being able to go back.

What a wonderful surprise. In Stornoway, no less! Of our three dinners in town, we chose Harbour Kitchen for the first two, and would have gone again for the third had it been open. Loved everything about it, really, from the innovative dishes, locally sourced fresh ingredients, execution and presentation from the kitchen, and friendly, attentive service. We were in Scotland for two weeks last year, but never ventured into a place that might be considered "fine dining". Harbour Kitchen changed our minds about that on this recent visit, and for any future ones. Were I to compare it restaurants in Portland, which is known for it's dining scene, I'd rate it as fine dining, but at a much more reasonable price.

This is a serious food destination. Magnificent fresh fish and shellfish, served in a delightful dining room. There is a small bar near the entry door, where we enjoyed pre-dinner drinks. Banquette seating in the dining area wa scomfortable and intimate. The food was excellent; fresh scallops, firm fresh turbot and a wodnerfaul haunch of venison typified the offerings. So good that we did it two nights running, just to savour the range of food available.

Uig Sands Restaurant is located on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis overlooking the beach. A family-run, new-build restaurant. We serve fresh and local food where possible with an emphasis on local seafood and fish. Most diets catered for but please ch
We moved to the island last year after several holidays here. We really don't want Sunday opening to become widespread on the island but there is room for a bit of relaxation of the Sunday shutdown. Well done Uig Sands for providing a welcome oasis! Our first visit today - set in stunning scenery, this attractive modern building has a welcoming interior and a relaxed ambience. The chairs were comfortable, the table a good height and the cutlery wasn't stuff to go gardening with. The printed menu is sparse - most of the good stuff is on the specials board as you would expect from a restaurant specialising in seafood. Langoustines, lobster, scallops and mussels today amongst other stuff.I had the smoked salmon because I'd heard how good it was and wanted to try it. My husband was going to have the burger but treated himself to lobster instead. Both dishes were very much enjoyed and we moved on to dessert. I had the blueberry semi-freddo (yummy) and OH the caramelised pineapple which he enjoyed. With drinks, 2 beers for him and 2 wines for me, £65-ish. Great food, good value for money, excellent service and a great view. Back soon. we've been back since I wrote the above and forgot to post it. Our opinions haven't changed.Hi, thank you so much for visiting and also taking the time to leave a review: itâs really appreciated by us all. We have just closed for the winter, opening a little around Christmas and then again from mid-February. Hopefully see you again. With best wishes from us all
