You can see Miyajima ferryboats coming and going and the red torii from our big window. You can also enjoy fresh Sushi, Tempura, famous Hiroshima oysters and Miyajima conger eels at reasonable price.
We had lunch there. Very friendly atmosphere. Amazing view of the bay, and pier where every 5 minutes ferries leave for Miyajima. We tried beef lunch set and sushi set. Very satisfied. And the price is reasonable. Definitely will come again. Next time for dinner I guess...

Have to try the miyajima speciality- conger eel (Anago). Delicious and different from the normal eel. Massive serving - more eel to rice proportion! This shop was selling it at 1700yen which is on the mid/lower end in comparison to the other shops. Note though they close at 5pm (same as most restaurants on the island)

We stumbled across this little restaurant by accident while looking for a lunch venue. What a little gem. The staff were friendly and helpful and understood English. We shared 2 dishes - tempura oysters eel and vegetables - grilled oysters - accompanied with a glass of local beer. A cheap light lunch - the best yet in our tour of Japan!

Grilled local oysters, so yummy! We huddled in a corner to eat our 'hot off the grill' oysters in the pouring rain. It was so delicious, we had to get a second round.

We had a quick lunch of tempura donburi here at the recommendation of our innkeeper. It's a small place, like many in Japan. The earnest young chef here turned out significantly better than average tempura for the price. I particularly enjoyed the anago, which I believe is a specialty of the area.

Torii is a casual Japanese restaurant very close to the Istukushima shrine (the Tripadvisor pin is way off the mark!). Theirspeciality seems to be is oysters, served in several ways: cooked in their shells on a grill, deep-fried... I took the grilled ones, that were really big and juicy, one could season them wit local soy sauce-vinegar type sauce. Delicious, and not at all too expensive! My portion was 6 fat oysters, practically enough for lunch. If you want a smaller sample of oysters you can buy just two from the outside grill and eat standing there. Torii also serves at least noodles and tempura: our family of four found suitable portions for all and we left happy.

Food and Japanese alcohol from Hiroshima Fish used in sushi is fished in Hiroshima. Japanese alcohol is also made in Hiroshima. Please enjoy delicious food while watching the skill of sushi chef at the counter
We found interesting the ratings on Tripadvisor, even though there were only a few, so we decided to give it a try. We went for the 5.000 Yen chef’s option, which included some oyster soup, sashimi, and nigiris, among other dishes. We enjoyed the tasting menu so much, not only because of the quality but also because of the experience of having the sushimen in front of us, who were preparing and explaining the nigiris while we ate. After two weeks in Japan, I can say that this was the best meal, and why not to mention, I donmt think a similar experience can be found for this money! Last but not least, the staff is very nice as well!

We stopped in after we finished taking the ropeway up the mountain. We chose the oyster kaiseki. We ordered one regular & one plus/premium. The only difference is that the premium serves two huge fried oysters while the regular serves a few smaller ones. Otherwise, the meals are the same. All the oysters were prepared well, and were seasoned just right. The price is reasonable. It is a cash-only place (also accept Japanese debit card).

The only place to enjoy oysters casually all the year. The most historic and popular restaurant. The staff is also friendly. We offer the most reliable Japanese cuisine in Miyajima.
A very busy restaurant in the small shopping street of Miyajima. You can’t miss it big sign and a crowded place with a significant number of Japanese. Anyhow it’s clear that the review in the guidebooks bring the crowds. But it is well deserved if, again, you love oysters because they present them in many forms raw cook grilled etc. All excellent I must say. Friendly service used to non Japanese English menu available and very reasonable prices. I agree this the place that you should visit in Miyajima besides the temples and pagodas of course !
