Things to do in Hastings

Most of the fish and chip shops in Hastings vary in quality in one way or another but the Blue Dolphin seems to have slipped quite dramatically. The main thing is the presentation of the staff. They look like theyâve been pulled in off the street for some work experience. No uniform, just random street wear caked in dirt and grease. The food itself was mediocre at best. The seagulls got most of it. Time to find somewhere else I think but most of the chippyâs in Hastings are pretty poor so maybe a new town entirely is something I need to find. I doubt Iâd go again.

Went to hastings for the day and treated our family to chip dinner at the Neptune Please don't go in there Other than the young waitresses being sweet that was as nice as it got Chips were hard crispy like they'd been refried a dozen times over my battered sausage needed a saw to cut through and was not like a sausage inside it was white!! I asked for a large sausage for my son they don't do large ssusage so was given two except two didn't even make up for one! My curry sauce was not chip shop curry sauce it was a packet mixed with water totally inedible even though I complained nothing was rectifiedMy partners burger tasted cheap and greasy Stay away!!!

A day visit to Hastings, and thought we would try this restaurant as a friend had recommended it, plus some great reviews on Tripadvisor. We arrived around 1pm to be told that the restaurant was full, even though there were 4 tables free/available. I asked if they took reservations. The waitress (or manager) said "no", which I thought was strange because if no reservations are taken, and its walk-in customers only, then why would the 4 tables be booked/not available? No satisfactory answer was given. So I do agree with one of the comments below about being "turned away in a very unaccomodating manner ...".

Undoubtedly fantastic fish and chips. Dropped a point due to unfriendly, borderline judgemental staff and needing to pay for tiny ketchup sachets despite there being an abundance of ketchup bottles. Free sauce is what makes âeating in cost moreâ according to the staff so make sure you get your moneyâs worth...

Our Old Town fish restaurant has one of the shortest ingredient journeys in Britain! About a minute across the beach from the boats! We are able to offer you the experience of eating a range of carefully prepared fresh fish dishes from the Hastings & Rye
Our favourite restaurant in the Old Town when we fancy a treatBooked a table in advance, as itâs rare even ok a week night that you can walk in for a tableAs always service was very good We ordered a selection of tasters to start, all very tasty, then we had the Hake and the Pork Belly, the only complaint came from my husband that my plate of food was bigger than his and that he could have eaten another piece of pork, size wise it isnât a big portion and whilst he loved it he said heâd rather have had the steak next time if he had meat again. Our puddings were fabulous and the chocolate delice I was told was the nicest pudding heâs ever had!Finished off with some espresso martinis and decided whilst there weâd also book in fo NYâs eve as we had a great meal there a few years back, and itâs excellent value. The only disappointment on the night is the wine menu has changed and the sparkling rose prosecco that used to be on the menu is no longer available and replaced by another which at £40 a bottle I feel is too steep as we often will have 2 over the course of an evening. Am sure we used to pay around £30 for the other bottle so itâs a fair bit more? We opted for a white prosecco which was still very nice A great evening as always Thanks

Whites is the longest seafood specialists, situated in the heart of Hastings old town and we recently opened a new branch in Battle. We are known for doing the best seafood that Hastings has to offer. We try and use as much local produce as we can, our be
720372650 A poor lunch at Whites. To be succinct - burger looked & tasted like a frozen massed produced burger; fries dry & tasteless; deep fried cod as greasy as could be. Dark haired waitress capable & friendly; fair haired one total opposite. Really looked forward to fish and a good burger in Hastings for lunch today, but it was all a big disappointment and certainly a waste of money.Im sorry that you did not like the food.We make our beef and lamb burgers on site and we have many positive reviews about our food including the chips. Our cod is freshly battered and cooked to order then left a few minutes to rest.As for the staff it might of just been a off day.Waitressing may seem like a easy job but let me a assure you it's not.Regards Alex White

Far from the madding crowd, under the cliff at the car park end of rock-a-nore road. we are known for our top quality fresh food at reasonable prices. dog & child friendly and fully licensed. free parking available nearby after 6pm.
We stumbled across this place after visiting the aquarium and after looking at the menu (the specials board brim full of local fresh seafood) we went in and had the most amazing meal! We both had the seafood linguine which was a meal I wonât forget in a hurry! Excellent food in a casual, relaxed atmosphere with friendly, attentive waiting staff. A must to visit!

Taylor's Seafood Restaurant in Hastings Old Town. Offering hot and cold seafood, local fish dishes and sharing platters, home-made burgers, awesome vegetarian meals and a great selection of complementary wines and beers.
Visited on a Wednesday lunchtime for a special birthday meal. Waitress that greeted us didnât seem too interested and sat us at a table for 2 despite us making a prior reservation for 5 people. Promptly fixed but then told that our 1 year old would probably be too small for their high chair despite mentioning this when booking. Turns out standard sized high chair was fine. Then they didnât have the wine we ordered or our second choice...but then they found some out the back. We asked for an under 5s menu which we had been told was available when booking but were initially told by our waitress that there wasnât a menu for under 5s. Again this was sorted once we told her that weâd been told there was one so she read the options from a tablet. Overall the food was good although we did have to wait over an hour for it even though only 1 couple had ordered before us and it was a fairly quiet Wednesday lunch time. Unfortunate to be let down by some fairly poor/uninspiring service which can so often make or break an experience.

We found this place thanks to Tripadvisor and what a fantastic little restaurant. It was very quiet on a Thursday lunchtime sadly but that didnât detract from a wonderful lunch. I had the roast mackerel and I can honestly say it was the biggest mackerel I have ever seen and cooked to perfection in spices with beans and lentils. My husband had the ribeye which he also said was excellent. There were other dishes on the menu which looked very interesting and which I would have liked to have tried. Hopefully next time.We had to wait a bit for our food, which didnât matter as we werenât in a rush, and I imagine that it has a great ambiance when itâs full on an evening. And itâs dog friendly too.I hope that people visit this restaurant and support the business which is a great and much needed addition to the choice available in Hastings.
