Things to do in Gokarna
We tried this cafe for dinner and they took 1 hour to get one dish. And this single dish was not even edible. The other 2 dishes which we had ordered never came and the waiter(who apparently was very polite) informed us after an hour that those cant be served. He apologized for the inconvenience but couldn't we be told in the beginning itself. This indicated their mismanagement and poor service-time. And let me point out the restaurant was not even crowded. They were taking 1 hour to serve each table. In the end, we just paid the bill and came out to eat elsewhere. We gave our feedback at the counter to the manager, and he was least bothered about what we said. Also, the price was very high.So never go to this place.

From the Hill-Top down to the beach. First Base right
Considering the service and food it's a bit over priced. Took significant amount of time for even serving the starters. Not a very clean and tidy one, but sometime you lack too many options. OK kind of food, you may give some credit for the view though which gives Somewhat feel of shacks.

Excellent beach-side restaurant on a small cliff; very inviting and relaxing. Super-friendly and non-pushy staff. I ate a lafa (israeli roll) several times here: very good, and tea. Don't know about the rooms. The restaurant had lots of choices and seemed cheaper than other restaurants.

...Surya Cafe is a Restaurant like any other restaurant on the left and the right at Gokarna beach (exept Chez Christophe). The menue has basically the same dishes listed than any other Restaurant in Gokarna. The chef/owner might be a bit better than in other restaurants. Everybody likes Suraya but only because there is barly somthing better on the beach, and it is cheap. Why I am giving only 2 Stars? The plates, the cutlery is always dirty, the kitchen is always a mess, the service is ultra-poor, waiting for one hour for a simple curry is normal and what is the most annoying they might have a tandori grill but the dont want to heat it up because they are to lazy. The fish from a pan is not the same like a fish from a charcol/wood tandor. others would say... thats India, thats Gokarna and thats why we are here.... thats why we love itâ¦â¦sorry but not me.PS: the ambient at night is horrible unless you are in love with ultra bright and blueish direct neon lighting or direct light from energy-saving-bulbs. But quite often you will lucky and they will bring candles to the table because there will be the daily power blackout.

Ocean-front multi-cuisine restaurant, room & board in wooden cottages, chill spot. At little Paradise, you are back home.
Nicely setupDecent musicGreeted and handled by a very courteous staff Kiran whose service was upto the markUnfortunately beer has been temporarily banned due to upcoming Lok Sabha electionsHad a masala tea which was prepared just the way I had asked it to beSweet lime soda was goodChicken sizzler priced at Rs 310 had a decent portion size and was made more in a continental style than desi style... chicken serving was quite decent... overall taste was goodEven though I didnt find anything negative I would still rate it as 3/5 for two reasons:1. Didnt offer anything unique in taste... something that I can take back and remember all my life2. Pricing in the menu was very horizontal with everything prices almost the same. I dont think thats even remotely customer friendly. This would lead to customer not ordering certain dishes even they would have just finding them to be quite expensive

We had snacks here whilst spending a day on the Om beach. It is in a great position with a fabulous view. Service was slow and my husband's toasted sandwich when it came, was cold - he took a bite from it and realised, so called the waiter. He wasn't too concerned but took it away only to bring the same toastie back with the bite out of it!! Yes, it was now extremely hot but really!! Couldn't they have given him a fresh one or at least cut the bit off where he had eaten! Needless to say, we were not impressed and have no idea why this place is so popular!!
