Terrific food and the chef and server were able to cater to gluten free, dairy free and vegan dietary needs without batting an eye. Everyone at the table was happy, and this was only days after the restaurant opening!

I am not sure that I would describe this as 'a gem' as a previous reviewer has seen fit to do so. Staying at the nearby NH Hotel I sought a lunch venue for a solo and hungry traveler to see him through to dinner-time. The Calimero was available on a Sunday afternoon in an otherwise deserted little town. But it would be unfair to describe it as 'any port in a storm', nor could I realistically rate it without tasting its wider range of culinary offerings. I wanted a pizza and it is only upon that basis that I can assess the venue. The pizza was good, thin based, crispy, not soggy in the middle and a glass of Italian red was dry and reasonably rounded. For â¬12 it did the job. The place was clean, well patronised by locals (a good sign) and the staff were pleasant and efficient. If I was trying out some more demanding dishes I might be raising the rating to four, but for what I had it was fair-to-good.

We happened upon this restaurant though a friend who lives in nearby Wiesbaden. The restaurant he had chosen was booked with a wedding, so we ended up here. I'm not sure what "Basting Gimbel" is about - the name on the restaurant is "Die Wirtschaft".It was "Kurbis" (pumpkin) season, and the chef prepared the most delicious Pumpkin Ricotta Cannelloni - and a most generous portion for lunch. The interior of the restaurant is so cozy and relaxing - we'd love to go back for a dinner!
