4 of us came in on a Sunday after a fishing trip. We were hungry after a long 5 hour boat ride. Unfortunately, we chose the wrong spot. We had a variety of dishes and unfortunately for us all of the dishes tasted no better than a frozen TV dinner. I would have gave rating of 1 out of 5 but the service staff was good and the garlic bread was delicious (which wasn't free). Based on the flavor of the dishes, we thought the chef took the day off and did not prep anything in the kitchen. We were very disappointed.

Anchor down is a family owned, Chef inspired seafood restaurant on the beautiful south shore of Long Island.
Disappointed. Small outdoor patio surrounded by a tall fence. Stones throw from the water. Food was ok. My jumbo lump crab cakes were devoid of lump crab meat. Fresh or out of a can? My wifeâs chopped salad with add on chicken breast was ordinary. Chicken was borderline burned. Service was polite. As we discovered, there are other nearby restaurants with a waster view. Trying them in the future.

We checked other reviews and it sounded like a place we should try. I asked for a martini, on the rocks with a twist of lime. I received a martini, without ice and with a 4 inch slice of lemon zest. We ordered the monkfish, mussels, and a hamburger. The monkfish was tasty but small, the mussels were ok, but not fresh and the sauce was not very good, and the hamburger was just ordinary. A glass of wine, and a coke, and our bill was $81.00. This place has upscale decor, a nice location, but a disappointing fare and service to match. We do not recommend any one else waste their time or money on this place.

I've been to Chadwicks for a few special occasions and hosted a baby shower there too! The food is fantastic and a great treat for a special night out. The location is perfect if you're looking to grab a bite to eat or a drink before heading into the city. The parking on this side of RVC is also better than "down town".Thanks for your review! We really appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your experience and we hope to see you again soon! Sincerely,The Team at Chadwicks American Chop House & Bar

OMG!!!.... Barely edible at best. Horrible service. Extremely overpriced. A trifecta of badness. Trying to think of something redeeming here, but it really is BAD. The food is terrible. The tables, chairs and floor are run down and gross. Kitchen very slow. Rarely does my entire family agree upon anything. But we all voted unanimously that this was, by far, the worst meal of 2019.

Waterside Continental restaurant exploding with Portuguese influences in a romantic setting overlooking the Hudson canal in Freeport, NY.
I have been to this exceptionally warm and contemporary restaurant three times in the past four months. A family group gathering of ten, plus a Couples night. All were excellent! Each visit was like a "VIP Experience". Owner (Ramiro) waited on us personally, and fully explained each appetizer & entree in detail with his special style of humor. Appetizers (Claims Casino, Oysters) were abundant, tasty and prepared to perfection. Main courses consisted of multiple choices of delicious fresh fish (Atlantic Char, Dorada, Branzino, Cod Fish Cakes), served hot simultaneously. Excellent desserts. The entire staff was attentive, professional, and the prices are very reasonable for an establishment this good. The spacious Bar has a wide range of fine spirits.

Food is always good, well priced and fresh! The bar has great bartenders and drinks are made well, nothing fancy, again well priced!! Carlos , the manager is fabulous, Jeremy and his family as well !! You become a friend quickly and are greeted warmly ! It's a place where you can wear anything and feel comfortable , order at the bar and your food is delivered to you , freshly made ,and with a smile!!We go there frequently and often go after a day of working doing volunteer work on somebody's home.

Am I getting soft? Another (nearly) 5 star reviews. I think of myself as a pretty tough reviewer ... I mean why write a review that doesn't outline the good and the less than good? But for the second time in as many weeks, I'm finding a restaurant on Long Island that from a price/service/food stacks up really well. Would have been 5 stars except (1) when we made some changes to our meal (ordering an main course served as an appetizer & ordering from the dessert menu rather than from the desserts verbally told to us by our server) they failed to inform us of a considerable up charge; and, (2) almost every fish on the menu was from a non-sustainable source. And restaurants that want to stay in business for the long-term need to start thinking about long-term sources of food. Those two issues aside ... food was perfectly prepared, well seasoned, arrived at the right moment and was piping hot (except the cold stuff which was cold). Our server, guided us expertly through a 5 course meal. Making suggestions, engaging with us to make us feel "at home" but not being overly present. Water glasses always stayed topped off. And the wine list albeit at 3.5-4x was a bit pricey, still had a few hidden gems and a nice selection of wines by the glass. The view isn't as great as those across the street, but you can still watch some boats come by and have the sense of being "on the shore". I'd go back.

I'm out in New York for work and the first region I was at is the Long Island Area. The hotel clerk recommended a restaurant and I was going to go there but there was a dress code. Shorts was not one of those on the list for acceptable. Got on my iPhone and started to search and saw Bigelow's New England Fried Clams was not far away. Drove up and walked right in, the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was just cool. The service was top notch, someone was always making sure us customers were being attended too and cups were always filled with whatever drink it was. The regulars were fun to listen to and the owner and son were there and they were chatting it up. It was a great experience and real nice to see that there are business out there that still take care of their customers.I ordered the Clams and fries and was so glad I did. Great fresh taste, a lot of clam strips by the way. Just overall good food, everything that I saw coming out looked really really good. By the way, being in New York I was torn to order Manhattan or New England style clam chowder, I went with the New England, WOW, it was screaming. Tasty and just damn good. If I come back out here again, would love for my famliy to come to this national landmark!!! Place has been there for over 80 years. Wishing them another 80. Thanks for a great experience and for the fantastic food!!
