Most people looking for a memorable dining experience in Fairfield prowl the restaurants along the Post Road. This is unfortunate because they won't discover 348 Oyster Bar, just off the Black Rock Turnpike traffic circle.Food emerges from the kitchen textbook perfect. Seafood is lightly breaded and not at all greasy. The accompanying sauces are creative and avoid clichés. The burger consists of high-quality cuts of beef cooked perfectly as ordered and served on a soft brioche roll which allows the meat to star. The fries are a delight, freshly cut and perfectly crispy. The happy hour buck-a-shuck oysters are quite a deal, served properly on a bed of ice with several savory sauces. Plating is yet another strong point here. Much care is taken to make the food look like the pictures one sees in quality food magazines. The owner, Karim, hails from Morocco and really knows international cuisine. I've taken cooking classes all over the world, and I truly enjoy talking to him about the culinary arts. Karim is genuinely friendly, likes people, and has a great sense of humor. The patrons are always made to feel welcome.Go on a Monday or Tuesday for happy hour, and a good selection of bottled wine is offered at half price; you can, for example, buy a nice Chablis for about $20. Give 348 a try; you won't be disappointed.

Been coming here since 1990, and STILL overpriced and STILL warm tap beer and STILL no A/C in the place. Staff walk around like prison guards and act like they're doing you a favor by just being there. Food overpriced and so so quality. I give it 4 stars for ambience on a gorgeous day, and 1 star for EVERYTHING else, including the Sauna bathrooms. Eat b4 you go and stick to bottled beer IF you can get a cold one. Anytime after 8pm on a Friday thats impossible.

It has a look and feel of a traditional yacht club social atmosphere, but all are welcome. Fresh raw bar of oysters, clams, lobster, and shrimp. Starters include clams casino, zuppa di mussels, crab cakes, oyster rockefeller, clams casino and filet tips!
One of my favorite neighborhood haunts in a neighborhood check full of restaurants, bars and cafes. Why? Because it has absolutely no pretentions. It delivers very good food and there is music most nights after 9 pm. The staff is welcoming and service is efficient. Its casual with the edge of a dive joint, but not really a full-on dive. There are bikers, young working couples, tattoos and cowboy boots. There's also international businessmen like me and doctors and lawyers. Get my drift. What brings me here again and again is the raw food bar, the seafood dishes, and the quirky vibe. It's a gem...a diamond in the rough. See you there soon.

Visited on November 24, 2017 at 1:20 PM. Sushi was good, cut rather thin and elongated, like a thin rectangle, but good. Minimal rice under the sushi, different than most places, most places generous with the underlying white rice. Staff attentive. Parking on nearby side streets for free.

Hubby and I went there originally planning on having a boil but changed our minds after we got there. I got the "Cajun" shrimp peel and eat. Not sure where the Cajun comes from... The fisherman's platter was tasteless. Just breaded and deep fried (read bulk purchase frozen) fish that lacked any flavor. The jalapeño corn poppers were decent and hubby said the chowder wasn't bad. The wait staff are guaranteed a gratuity, so there is no desire to wow the customer. The prices were reasonable. And they do have a patio on the street, so you have the option of sitting outside, if you want.
