Reviews on Seafood food in Epen, Limburg Province, The Netherlands. The tiny Dutch town of Epen lies in the south part of the Limburg province. A stop along the way of the famed Mergellandroute, Epen is a lovely oasis for tired cyclers and drivers. Gently rolling hills, fruit trees and half-timbered houses create a romantic atmosphere, as do the majestic mansions and castles of the area.

The Chef is really helpful and was even willing to replace meat with cheese or fish for me (vegetarian/pescetarian) Lots of food is grown in the vicinity and known to the staff. The local wines were a good surprise and we spent around 3 hours eating, drinking and having a good time.Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and really made us feel at home.We will definitely come back.

My partner and I visited this beautiful venue as part of a L'Etoile package with the Kasteel TerWorm in Heerlen. We were picked up from the Kasteel (on a very rainy evening) by a very cheerful and enthusiastic taxi driver (or so we thought!).When we arrived, the chap pulled out a brolly to escort us into the restaurant where we were greeted by the very helpful and as expected, English speaking staff. To our surprise, when we sat down, the 'taxi driver' turned out to be one of the staff at the restaurant! He was an absolute star, a real 'character'!The owner of the restaurant came up to welcome us and we thought this was a very nice touch. The 'taxi driver' then came to explain the wine choices to accompany our meal. My goodness, fabulous food, fabulous wine, fabulous venue and excellent staff / service. Our taxi driver then turned out to be the 'Maître_fromager' and was extremely enthusiastic about the 'ridiculous' amount of cheeses on offer for the cheeseboard!A superb twist to the evening and we couldn't thank the staff or our surprise chauffeur for the evening. FANTASTIC.

The restaurant has had in recent decades several owners under different names of the etablishement. The current owners, a young couple, is trying to bring new dynamics in the restaurant. They succeed well. We had a 3 course menu (⬠39.50) with delicious appetizers and starters and an excellent dessert. The main course was unfortunately of less quality, because the fish was overcooked and even a bit watery. The staff is friendly, although it is a bit annoying that so many different staff members appear at your table.

While touring in the Limburg area we had a lovely traditional Dutch meal in the Vijlerhof. The food was excellent, tasty & delicious. We got very good value for really tasty good food. The staff were on hand all the time & were friendly & efficient. This restaurant seems to be very popular & has a lot of regulars, which is not surprising. We would definitely have returned again had we had the time but had to be on our way. However, we would return again if we had the opportunity.

The restaurant has a selection of nice food in an nice atmosphere. I really recommend the meatloaf, as this was part of the menu we had reserved as group, I took this (I would normally not) and it was super, I would eat it again. The only recommendation I have for the team is that it is not done to change a pre set menu during the dinner. The table arrangment could be inproved people sitting at a table and watching the back of the person sitting next to him of the same group is not acceptable.

Enjoy delicious dishes in our à la carte restaurant 'In de Oude Watermolen' with its welcoming bistro next door. Our menu offers a wide variety of dishes, such as cave-aged cheese and Mergelland lamb. You can also choose the perfect Limburg wine to suit y
Stayed in this hotel restaurant for one night. Went to the bar-bistro first for a drink and appetisers. The glass of beer was almost more foam than beer. An unacceptable "head". The waitress did apologise after complaining and topped up the glass. The bitter ballen were small, industrial, half empty and the mustard came out of a cheap paper sachet. And all this in a 5 star Establishment. Very bad indeed.Contrary to this experience the main restaurant was very good although we had to wait a long time for the menu and breads. Excellent creative dishes which were very well presented and were delicious too. Professional staff. All well here. So, judged together, on balance: Average

I visited this restaurant on a business trip. I dined alone. This is really a great grill resaturant. I had the steak (400gr). It was baked to excellence, the meat was very very tender. As a free starter I was offered a garlic soup, nothing wrong with it.compliments to the chef, I will be back !

For us always a place to come back, sometimes just to drink something and enjoy the view sometimes for diner or lunch. The food is typically "Limburgs" with an international touch. The food is great and the staff friendly. A nice place to start & end your walkings in the forrest.

A visit to the Atelier is always again a surprising journey along tastefully presented dishes with inventive combinations of first class products, accompanied by a fine variety of wines or non-alcoholic fruitjuicessappen. A warm competent service supports you through this wonderful experience. Five stars are usually only reserved for the perfect experience and this was one of those !

Though not quite your intimate setting, the restaurant offers good quality and we were not hurried up by the staff. A very enjoyable place for dinner, if weather permist on their terrace which offers a splendid view. Suggestion, in case you like white wine: take the Gerardushoeve house wine (Johanniter), it's fairly good!!
