I love Red Lobster. But this place is horrible. The table was sticky. The plates werenât clean. The chicken Alfredo was extremely greasy . Not creamy at all. I have never left a restaurant review. But this place was awful.
DeWitt, New York Food Guide: 7 Diner food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in East Syracuse
My parents had a fish and chips shop in London, England so I know good seafood when I find it. Fish Cove is a take-out restaurant with a few tables outside. Nothing fancy but the seafood is very good. In fact it is good enough that we went back a second time in two days. That says it all!!
I would never have believed it, but I got salmon here when I had gotten some at Wegmans the week before and found Fins and Tails salmon was more delicious than what I had gotten at Wegmans. I am not sure if it was a freshness issue or a type difference. We also ordered seafood from Fins and Tails 25 years ago for our wedding party and it was delicious then too. Worth the detour to buy fish from them.

I had boiled crab legs, with bay butter seasoning (just one of several options), medium spiciness, and it was quite good. However, the unusual (at least for Syracuse) style of presentation and eating might not be for everyone. I enjoyed it as a change and will certainly return, but I will also continue to eat at the seafood restaurant a couple of blocks down Erie Blvd. as well.If you've never been here, there are some things that might be puzzling to you, as there were to me. First, when you get a boiled dinner, the items are not plunged directly into the water, and don't come out soggy as you might think. Instead, the ingredients--crab (or whatever you order), potatoes, sausage, seasoning--are put into a plastic bag and that's what is placed into the boiling water. The food gets cooked nicely and the bag is delivered to your table on a metal pan; nothing is soggy.Next, the SC advertises about eating with your hands. Never fear, you still get implements like forks and shell crackers. You do handle your food more than usual, and to keep you from becoming a laundry disaster your server will assist you prior to eating with a plastic bib. You're also given a pair of disposable plastic gloves, which keep your hands from becoming a mess and also keep the food from picking up anything from your hands if they aren't perfectly clean. Also, while the theme is cajun seasoned seafood, if you or one of your party just isn't into seafood or spicy food there are non-seafood items available, like chicken, and you can order most items in a range of spiciness from zero spice to very spicy. One menu item that slightly missed the mark was the cajun fried rice. The quantity was as expected enough for 2-4 people, and it was quite good. But where it missed is that it tasted exactly like Chinese fried rice, with no hint of cajun seasoning. There are items that you can add to it at extra cost, and maybe that would have added cajun flavor, but the basic dish just wasn't cajun to any noticeable degree. The restaurant is very nicely decorated in a nautical theme. Our server was friendly and attentive to our needs.Overall, this was a good experience and I enjoyed the meal quite a bit. I would not choose to go here on a special, slightly formal occasion, as the messy nature of the eating approach feels too informal for something like that, and bib and gloves notwithstanding, there's still a risk of staining your clothes if you forget you are wearing the gloves and touch an unprotected part of your outfit.

Our mission is to bring super-fresh, wild-caught seafood from the coast of Maine to Syracuse, combining culinary flair with thoughtfully curated wines, exclusive craft beer and an inviting New York City-style atmosphere.
Stopped for late lunch and we had fried haddock and fried shrimp plate. Sides were unique and delicious. Prices are a little high for atmosphere and amount of food that you get but service was excellent - we were only ones there for awhile. Have some fun brews to pick from and cost is about $5 each. It is a very small place but they do have outside seating.
