This is our first visit to rocks under the new owner, the new revamped decor is light and fresh, met by a pleasant young man who showed us to our table and gave us the menu what a wonderful selection and very difficult to make our minds up,order taken by the new owner who I have to say has his finger on the pulse, we had to wait on our starter but to be fair the restaurant was very busy, pigeon breast on a bed of creamy risotto was beautiful and my partner had fish cake in a creamy sauce well worth the wait. To follow chicken breast which was cooked to perfection and pig on a plate 4 different cuts of pork the best he has tasted in a long time no room for desert and we will definitely be back, thank you to the staff for an excellent evening

The waiter was incredibly helpful and welcoming and we enjoyed our evening overall. We had spent a day at the Scottish open and were looking forward to a special meal to finish off our day. We loved the complementary snifters before courses- a spicy Bloody Mary, rhubarb smoothie and a noggin of Sangria. The menu had lots to choose from, both seafood and terrestrials. I started with delicious mussels and a nice touch was the finger bowl was proper hot when the food arrived, so it was just perfect to wash my hands in when I was finished. Mussels plump, fresh and in a delicious winey- creamy sauce, which managed to be rich and fresh at the same time! He had a tasty chicken salad with crispy coating and tasty dressing. We both opted for fish and chips for main but in different ways- he the fried variety which was crisp and served with mushy peas. More vinegar please though! I ordered the coley which was on a bed of mixed fried potatoes and salad. Not the best combination, potatoes not crisp and salad becoming a wee bit soggy in the mix. Skin on the fish wasn't scaled so couldn't eat it . Distinctly average I am afraid. The dining room a little smokey from the cooking. All in all pleasant but not exceptional and, I am afraid, Edinburgh prices.
