Have eaten at a lot of seafood restaurants over the years in a lot of places, but the Mayflower in Danville, Va. is on of my favorites. The food is always good, and the service pleasant and efficient. I go about every two weeks, and it never disappoints. I do wish they would get sweet potatoes though.

We attended a private function at the restaurant which is located on Main Street across from the remnants of Dan River Mills...very interesting location. The building itself used to house the famous "Schoolfield Lunch". We ordered the crab cakes which consisted of lump crab with minimal filler served with rice and very tender asparagus . It was excellent...a true Maryland crab cake. The garden salad, grilled scallops appetizer, bread with dipping oil were very complimentary to the main course. The waitstaff were very efficient and attentive. We will return to support our local businesses. Thank you for a very nice evening.

Visited this Red lobster with 2 family members... The shrimp entrees were well done and those 2 satisfied... I have to say I can be very picky about restaurant food especially if you are paying a fair amount of money for it.. I ordered the roasted stuffed lobster.. I just have a feeling this is not ordered too frequently probable steamed is more popular and easier to cook...Stuff was tasty.. salad great.. rice good.. baked potato great but the lobster itself, probably trying not to overcook it, was not done enough.. it had that clear appearance and a little slimy like texture when it is undone for me at least... I got 1 taste of that and thought sushi which i don't like.. and asked to return it... Management was very obliging...and it was taking off my bill.. I did offer to pay for my sides but they comped meal but i had not lobster... I'm sure if i had wanted they would have recooked 1 for me or cooked that 1 more but once that happens i lose my taste for something... Baked potato and salad..rice dinner was good... Oh yes and Red Lobster shame on them has done something to the biscuits they are not as chessy this is the 2nd time we had noticed this... GIVE US OUR CHESSY BISCUITS BACK !!! They are whitier not cheesy looking and at times you would cheese strings when you pulled them apart not now...

OMG is my first reaction to my first bite of fried chicken wings that were sided with, collard greens, macaroni and cheese and cornbread. A meal that quickly gave me all the warm feels of grandma's house on Sunday! I had enough left to take home for my husband to try.....he loved it. I took him and my sister in-law the next day for lunch again, it was fabulous! You have to try it, real comfort food! The owner and the waitress will make you feel right at home!
