Can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The food is consistently fresh and delicious, plus is reasonably priced. It is very clean with a touch of elegant ambience. The owners go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and are gracious hosts. As it is one of my favorites to go back again an again, it is also convent for travelers, as it is situated close to the carretera. It is now open from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., closed Tuesdays.
We had good recommendations for this restaurant and it's probably worth another try but our two orders were a total miss. The "camerones al coco" (supposedly a house speciality) were covered in sweet shreddred coconut and deep-fried. the sugared shredded coconut batter completely overwhelmed the shrimp - couldn't taste them no matter how hard i tried, so what's the point? i've had lightly battered shrimp with unsweetened coconut that's achieved a balance with the subtle shrimp flavor, but this was a total wipeout. The other dish was avocado stuffed shrimp salad. All the ingredients were there: chopped camarones, some celery, etc but it was drowned in a cup of mayonnaise - couldn't taste anything but mayonnaise! ended up rolling the ingredients on napkins to get rid of the mayonnaise, but even that didn't work. The lightest vinaigrette, or maybe just a teaspoon of mayonnaise, might have done it. nothing worse than gagging over mayo!maybe if we'd just ordered guacamole and pan-fried fish, or bbq ribs, the story might have been different, but we'd been ordering that for a few days on the beach and were looking for a change.

Tapas Bar at the south far end of the beach is a tranquil space surrounded by nature. Come and enjoy delicious fish tacos, shrimp prepared in many ways. The best ceviches and aguachiles on the beach
If you're adventuring North of Puerto Vallarta, visit the small beach town of Chacala. A quaint Mexican beach town with gold sand beaches, Chacala is a cool little spot for lunch and a cerveza if you're seeking refuge off the beaten path. Our visit to Chacala took us there on Easter Sunday--It was packed. After two days of flights, rental cars, and lost bags, we were in need of space. A few kilometers out of town, we took the dirt road South to Mar De Jade. Less than a 2Km off the main road, we found ourselves on a beachfront paradise--the Tapas Bar.Mar de Jade consists of a beautiful hotel, beach restaurant, campground, and Mexican shoreline. Score. We didn't need a campground or hotel, so we headed toward the friendly looking staff loading the fresh food toward the wood-fired kitchen. The manager, Juan, welcomed us in Spanish and broke into English as our Habla failed. Juan escorted the crew to the beachfront table, set up the sun umbrella, and invited us to stay all day. We are so glad he extended the invitation.Off a single-sided menu, we found two new contenders for the top ten. The girls devoured three plates of guacamole while they thankfully left the garlic octopus to dad. The garlic octopus was so good that it spawned the entire discussion of writing reviews for gems found on this adventure. Simply put; the meal, service, and cervezas were so good it guaranteed a return trip to Mar de Jade. If you're adventuring off the beaten path in the Puerto Vallarta area, visit Juan and the staff at Mar de Jade. You won't be disappointed.

Offers a English and Spanish menu. Wasnât that hungry and the appetizer fish tacos was more than we needed for lunchHad ordered guacamole and chicken nachos and took those home. Drinks $30 pesos for beer, $40 pesos for lemonada... so different than home. Many staff do have good English skills and the others appreciated my attempts of Spanish. They have coconut shrimp if you are looking for a restaurant that serves it.

I tried to tell you about this palapa restaurant on the beach in Chacala, Nayarit but for some reason you did not want to take it?? Not sure why, but this place has fabulous fresh seafood
Zarandeado is a local favourite at many of the Chacala restaurants... kinda like a BBQ sauce. The fish is freshly prepared and cooked over wood coals. The servers are happy to offer refills- excellent lime margarita!Ice cold beer for my husband. Excellent options of salsa, tostadas This place is packed during the day and when we went for dinner at 7pm there was only 20 of us on the beach.

Visited Twice while in Chacala. Seating both inside and beach. Great views of the bay, refreshing breeze off the water. Service is great, some English spoken. Good menu with tasty food. Had a great breakfast on the beach. In the evening returned to enjoy margaritas while listening to the waves .
