We have been going here ever since they first opened over 20 years ago. The fish and chips are always freshly cooked which means at peak times you can be waiting a while, but it's worth it. Other chippies cook in advance and you can find that your fish has been in the hot cabinet for a while, but not here. Other places pre-cook the chips and then reheat when you call in, but again not here, where all the food is freshly cooked. The staff are friendly and always ask how our children are and what they are doing. They remember every little detail that we have told them over the years. At peak times, you can wait nearly half an hour from arriving to leaving, but that just shows how popular and good the place is.

2 Beeches Avenue is a great place to visit if you are looking for a great selection of wines, lovely food and wonderful service. Whether it is a section of their meat and cheese, something from the specials menu or just a glass of something cold in the sunshine it is definitely worth a visit.

I went here with my partner and his mother for Saturday lunch and had a nice enough meal. The chef was serving as well as cooking, but still provided very friendly service (although slightly questionable from a hygiene perspective.) My partner had a seafood stew, which he enjoyed (but found a little salty) and his mother had a margarita pizza (nice enough, but quite heavy and not a patch on an authentic sourdough pizza served in a more traditional establishment), whilst I had sea bass (cooked nicely, although the skin was not crispy) with herbed fried potatoes (well-seasoned) and a tomato and chilli relish which had a beautiful balance of sweetness, acidity and heat that went really well with the fish. Coffees were well prepared and had a nice, rounded flavour without being too bitter or tasting burnt. The prices were similar to that of other establishments in London... Overall it was a nice meal and we would consider returning in future.

David is a brilliant chef. Each dish is individually created so it's worth waiting for. Particular culinary highlights; The Crab soup, Chicken liver pate -AMAZING, Oysters- Fresh Whitstable Oysters,The three Fish dish, Steaks TRIMMED and cooked as you ordered-we only eat his Steak as all other restaurants can't be bothered to trim the steaks (remove sinuous tissue), the Duck a l'orange. The Cote d'Azur continues to be the best fine dining restaurant in in the Croydon area.
