In a rustic yet elegant atmosphere, Fabio Badinotti and his team offer an extensive range of Mediterranean and regional cuisine. In addition to the traditional dishes and "the chef recommendation" on the menu, Chef Kenny Oberholz proposes seasonal and reg
Sunday, a winters day, raining yet Ascona still remains a lovely place to visit and we enjoyed lunch at al Pontile. The restaurant filled up yet it did not feel busy. The service was good, efficient and attentive.I took the lamb which was really good and in a party of four, each took a separate main course so you had plenty to talk about, exchange and sample. It's good when close friends like to share so you can sample each choice and get a clear impression. Certainly, I'd recommend this as a good place to go.

Our restaurant al Lago, in the garden by the lake, is a unique, green oasis on the Piazza of Ascona, with a stupendous view on the Lago Maggiore and the Brissago islands. For lunch we serve a choice of dishes of the day/menus and snacks. During the aftern
A special dinner on a warm summer's evening watching night fall over the lake. The outside tables have unique location in Ascona in a beautiful garden overlooking Lake Maggiore. The food more than matched the setting, with outstanding cooking, an excellent (and reasonably priced) wine list and careful service. Highly recommended.thank you very much for your fantastic rating. Our jung head chef Riccardo has always creative and tastefully meals on our menu. We hope we can see you in the future to surprise you again. Best regards from ascona

One of the most pleasant surprises during a recent trip to the Italian part of Switzerland was a visit to Ristorante Panoramico. You don't need to stay at the boutique hotel La Rocca of which it is a part to eat there. The food was divine, the view from the terrace on Lago Maggiore and Isole di Brissago fantastic and the service very friendly - and taking into account the prices in fashionable locations (like Ascona) in Switzerland, the prices were very reasonable. I'm almost hesitant to write a review because I hope this place will not be overrun and change. The menu at lunch time is very limited but at least for us there was more than enough to choose from. My husband and I both had a delicious cold melon soup as a starter, and the waiter made it sound like no trouble at all to see to that the prosciutto ham it would have been served with was added to my husband's portion instead. I'll recommend the fish dish - fried fish (I forget which, but it was delicious) with a wonderful risotto with herbs and a bed of summer vegetables to anyone who likes any of these components. My husband praised his coffee risotto. Yes, you read that right. There were several rather innovative risottos to choose from on the menu. The risotto portion was not that big (probably because traditionally you would follow with a main dish) but seemed to keep hunger at bay - and the price of it was barely more than 20 CHF, a very good deal for a fabulous place like this. The excellent fish dish cost no more than a rather average meal including fish would in a much less fancy place in Switzerland. So where's the thorn on this rose? The road to Ronco sopra Ascona is rather narrow, so you can't be scared of Amalfi coast style driving, and it seemed like there's only two parking spots for guests not staying at the hotel (although I could be wrong about that). Since public transport is so good in Switzerland, you can take a bus nearby though, and walk a little uphill. Oh, and it's only open roughly March - October, so check before you plan. Visiting this restaurant could be easily combined with a visit to the Isole di Brissago botanical garden on Lago Maggiore (to do so, take the (expensive) ship from Ascona or Brissago - the price will feel less bad after a lunch at Ristorante Panoramico).

In a small picturesque village in front of the Laggo Maggiore we spent a delightful lunch at Lo Scalo. The dishes ordered were tasteful and delicately presented and prepared by a highly talented young chef William Sonn. This is definitely worth a stop over. The service was excellent and highly attentive. A wonderful discovery - spread the word !

This was our third time having dinner at this place. We found the service always very helpful and friendly. The menu offer a great selection of local products at decent prices. To mention is also the nice wine list offering great wines from all parts of Italy. We recommend to book a table in advance and in summer preferably outside in the terrace, inside get quite loud when busy. A recommendation to the owners would be to reduce the noise by using curtains and / or carpets.

The Marina Restaurant boasts a unique location right by the shore of Lake Maggiore (14 Gault&Millau points). In a relaxed atmosphere enjoy a wide choice of pasta dishes, meat and fish delicacies from the grill as well as an extensive selection of cocktail
Since Marina was one of the top rated Trip Advisor restaurants in Ascona we made reservations. Unfortunately the restaurant didn't live up to our expectations at all. The service was bad. Ignorant servents and mediocre food. We had to send out the carpaccio since it was so tough, and didn't even get an excuse. "It's supposed to taste like this" was the response. Well - no - It's NOT suppused to taste like that ... Beyond that we had to ask for the bread basket, and not until we were about to leave the restaurant they lighted the candles on the table. And do I need to say that my daughter who ordered spaghetti bolognese ended up with carbonara ...? Sorry Marina, we are not coming back, and we are not going to recommend your restaurant. There are so many other more cosy restaurants in Ascona with better service and greater food.Dear MadamThank you for having taken the time to leave a statement concerning our restaurant Marina. We deplore to hear that your experience at the Marina did not fully meet your expectations. Regarding the unsatisfactory service, we would like to inform you that we already initiated measures where necessary. We would be happy to have the opportunity to welcome you back again at our restaurant Marina to persuade you with a great service according to our standards. In the meantime we wish you the very best.Yours sincerelyAndreas GartmannGeneral Manager

We can only recommend this place for an excellent dinner. The outside location is pretty small but exactly that adds a lot to the very personal touch and atmosphere. The chef is a really nice guy. Personal greetings and always asking if you are happy. And believe you are! The tortillini which are of handmade doughe from the mama is just perfect! Hi there, enjoy yourself, but make a reservation. As said it's an exclusive opportunity you can't afford to miss!

This restaurant specialises in cooking whole fish in solid salt. They also provide several other fish options as well as meat dishes.Set on the lakeside with tables outside one can enjoy the view with dinner. We enjoyed our evening but felt that this was more of a local's restaurant. Most people who came knew one another and we were the odd ones out. Hence the ambience was not as pleasant as I would like. The wine list was not available on the web so I was concerned that it may be too pricey, in fact there are a good range of options including a basic range of local wines at reasonable prices. All our prices are visible on our Web-site and on our Menu. We thank you very much for your visit and wish you all the best.
The location is beautiful with the lake view and the small park. The restaurant was absolutely full. When we arrived, we were ask to wait a while on a sofa and we were offered an aperitive on the house. It was asparagus season, so tried some asparagus. Addditionally veal and pasta. All food was well made from good ingredients. Some of the asparagus had a hard end that should normally be cut out, but it was still good. Service was friendly and lively.
