Traditional Fish & Chips
We recently called into Fryers for fish & chips. This is not the the most modern of shops but the food was brilliant. Lovely white fish cooked to order. It was a busy Thursday when we called in and there were lots of locals in the queue which is always good. Really good value and friendly staff. Weâll definitely call in again.

We visited mid-week lunchtime, four adults and two children. We stipped here because there were some picnic tables in the rear garden. We ordered the food then nipped outside. It was ready in about five minutes. We all enjoyed it . The fish was tasty with quite thin batter which was cooked all the way through. The chips were quite small but crispy and very good. The young woman who served us was pleasant and helpful.

Nice seated area. Friendly staff. We didnât want to much so just had chips, beans & bread and butter. Beans were not great tasted like the budget of the budget range. Chips were a little large and slightly undercooked for our taste but were not greasy.

My friend was on the phone to another friend talking about a chippy in Brid we were going to, when a rather intoxicated lady overheard and told us to call here. We eventually found it and wasnât disappointed. Sat straight away, served straight away and our food came straight away! Was lovely . Great food and plenty of people in and out and the take out was busy too. Lots of regulars by the sounds of things . Yum yum, get in my tum xxx

A friendly, clean family diner with a warm welcome. Browse through our menu and choose from a variety of fish and chips or all of our other dishes including homemade steak pie, lasagne, cottage pie etc. We have a full childrenâs menu too.
Great restaurant if you like large portions of good quality fish and chips. If you like really large portions then the large 32oz fish and chip dinner will certainly fill you. Great location too being only just off the harbour front. Good quality sesting and very pleasant atmosphere. Didn't have to wait too long to be served and very reasonably priced especially given the portion sizes.

Stumbled across this hidden gem whilst visiting the area in Mid May. A proper Fish n Chip shop serving proper fish n chips. The restaurant is accessed from the main take-away counter. Simply laid out, very clean and welcoming in an old fashion way. The menu was the usual assortment of Fish, Pies, Sausages etc. But the stand out deal is Fish n Chips, Bread and butter and a drink. We chose the Cod deal, and when it arrived it was a nice portion, cooked fresh, and baking hot. Perfectly complementing the roll and butter and nice strong tea. Our server was quick and happy. So what more do you want at a bargain price - Good fresh Food. Good Service and homely atmosphere. One not to miss.

We visited this restaurant on a quiet Wednesday evening. We had seen it many times but this was our first visit. What a fantastic place. We ordered a bottle of wine and sat in the bar. We were brought some menus to look over but there was no rush to get to our table. Our order was taken a short while after and we were told they would come and seat us when the starters were due out. We were shown to a lovely table with a harbour view. A lovely setting before the sun went down. The food was amazing - my husband had the dressed crab to start and I the salmon and prawns. For main I had the chicken breast which came with new potatoes and fresh vegetables whilst my husband had the steak pie. Both meals were faultless. I had cheesecake for dessert which was lovely aswell. We were very impressed with everything about this restaurant. .. the service, food and location. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a positive review of your visit to Rags . Its lovely to hear everything was to your liking and you were well looked after by the team We look forward to seeing you again very soon

We recently paid our second-ever visit to The North Star restaurant, and it will definitely be our last, mainly due to staff attitude. When our party of four arrived at 7pm, the waitress was very prompt in taking our drinks orders. Sadly, its actual arrival was far from prompt, as we had to wait for almost half-an-hour, by which time we were all dying of thirst. On commenting to the waitress that we had been waiting a long time, far from apologising, her response was "You would have got it sooner if I had more than one pair of hands". Considering that the restaurant was only about a quarter full, this was far less than acceptable. A second less-than-polite waitress arrived to take our food orders, and could not disguise the fact that she was displeased over our long deliberations. Maybe they have to pay her extra to be pleasant. Only one member of staff, to whom we paid our bill, treated us like human beings rather than something nasty they had just scraped off their shoe. The food itself was nothing to write home about and overpriced. Our verdict was that none of us would ever set foot in there again. The following night we enjoyed a meal at the Viking Hotel across the road, which was far better value and with much friendlier staff.

Fish and chip shop and cafe situated looking out on the Southside beach Stunning views from the cafe
Had a lovely lunch here in the sit down restaurant which is actually next door inside a Mexican themed bar/diner. Another small confusing thing was the chippy isn't branded as Wards, but hey, I found the place and their restaurant and neither disappointed. The cod and chips was fresh fried and served piping hot. Excellent batter, good quality fish perfectly cooked and a good job was made with the summer spud chips. The big advantage of lunch in what is by night a Mexican restaurant and bar was that I could have a beer with my lunch. Happy days. The service was great too... friendly folk and good to chat to.
