We went for lunch as we were staying at Arenas Beach and wanted to try a different menu. The husband and wife owners (I'm guessing) weren't overly friendly. The wife went in the kitchen once we arrived to show another employee how to cook. They then prepared an elaborate meal for the couple. I heard the lobster was good but as a vegetarian, the menu was limited for me. I would've loved what the owners were having! They seemed slightly annoyed that others were around. Wasn't horrible but wasn't great.

We had the burger $8, fish taco$8, and the breakfast $5. Yes prices are more expensive but they use better quality ingredients. Real cheddar! Thick bacon! French fries that are actually crispy and not limp like everywhere else in Nicaragua!. Not too salty and nicely flavoured with herbs and spices. Yes, they did run out of bacon but almost every restaurant on the Island was out of ingredients due to the poor weather stopping boat shipments for a week. Plus, it is unfair to say you are forced to eat here. There is a comedor literally 3 minutes walk away next to the church where you can have basic lunch for as little as $3. (almuerzo). They are happy to arrange a taxi which arrives in minutes and costs $0.80 per person to anywhere on the island. If we had more time we would definitely eaten here again and ordered off the more expensive dinner menu. The venue is quite lovely at night. This is a good option for a more refined meal.

Seva's is located on the northern coast near the adorable bus stop with the lobster sculpture seated on top. A place frequented by both locals and tourists, Seva's has some fairly priced meals and so-so service. You may have to go out of your way to flag down someone, we are on island time after all but the restaurant is across the street from the ocean front which makes for a nice view while waiting. The food came out relatively quickly, and wi-fi is available if you are trying to kill time. Better yet just order some Toñas and admire the view. As for the food, while there isn't an abundance of sides, 2 lobster tails smothered in garlic sauce for approximately $13 USD is a pretty darn good deal.

Arenas Beach Hotel Restaurant

Making money is the main concern here. The western part of Big Corn is definitely more expensive than the eastern part; Arenas Beach Hotel in particular is expensive and tries to imitate style and class but does not really have that. They ask, for example, 10 US dollar per person for a beach chair. Next door you get one for free. Cocktails were promoted as something very special but are just regular. Staff is arrogant.

A delicious spot. The fish curry and lobster are delicious and clearly fresh and made with love. However due to popularity, they charge tourist prices. If they lowered their prices, I would give it 5 stars but since it’s pricey and the lobster role came on a hamburger bun and a bit chewy, I’m giving it a 4. Everything else is a great though.

It's little known that Maris Daneth also has a couple of cold A/C rooms for rent that have GREAT memory foam matresses and private bathrooms. Rooms were reasonable and a short walk to Dos Tiburones Dive Shop, where we went diving a couple times. In fact, Miles from Dos Tiburones recommended we stay here. Besides being a beautiful person, Maris is a wonderful host! She repeatedly called La Costena airlines for us to help with flights back to Managua while we were in Little Corn Island. To get a confirmed reservation, she actually went to the airport to insure we had a flight! Her son Hunter and daughter are super people too! We'll stay with her again on our next visit! Thanks a million, Maris!
