We had dinner here because we happened to be close-by and, while the sushi we ate here was not only very good, but also prepared quickly, the vegetable udon dish I had ordered was tasteless. It seemed prepared without any inspiration. On the side of the ambiance, the decor is nice but, unfortunately, the service staff did not seem very welcoming.

Ddon't order the corn on the cob. It comes wrapped in foil - probably to hide the fact that it is waterlogged and tasteless. The crabs are ok. Avoid the warm weather b/c the huge garbage bins are next to the outdoor picnic tables. The stench is so strong that you can't taste the crabs. Will not be returning.

The place is busy and you have to be sharp to find a spot/table at happy hour. I waited a good 20 minutes to snag a high table for 2 and the waitress was very quick, polite, and good. Ordered a good pour of wine at $5 and got oysters, sushi, empanadas and all the food was good. The waitress was on top of things in spite of how busy/crowded/noisy it was. Will come back for more happy hour.

While in Bethesda for business, I went to dinner by myself. I liked the options on the menu and chose the Mussel Bar and Grill. The hostess was very friendly and when I was seated the manager came and took my order. The server - Mason - was very attentive and responsive. The service was excellent. I had a half-order of mussels with bacon and an excellent broth. It was served with fries and bread. They were excellent - flavorful, well prepared and more than. enough for a full meal. I will return when I get back to Bethesda.

The layout for the brunch is simple--salad and cold seafood, some hot food, and then dessert. It doesn't sound like much but man, everything was fresh and tasty. The salad dressing was appropriate. The clams and mussels and prawns were fresh and springy. The beef steak was juicy and the sauce that accompanied it just full of umami. (My saliva glands are working as I type.)And I should mention that the drinks--I recommend the bellini with ginger--went very well.Go for it.
