Stunning waterfront Bar & Bistro overlooking Carrickfergus Marina with outdoor Marina Terrace located at 5 Rodgers Quay, Carrickfergus, County Antrim, BT38 8BE.
I last reviewed the Windrose in April 2018. Just after their recent 2018 refurbishment. Then I gave it a great review. Just visited it tonight with my wife and another couple. All I can say is - itâs even better than the last time. Not sure if itâs had a small facelift ( the privacy glass behind the tables) but the restaurant interior is stunning easily the most impressive in Carrickfergus and matches the best pub/bistros in belfast. The staff were excellent, both in greeting and service. I would also say that the menu choice was even better than the previous menu. What I have found over the years is that they have reduced the menu choices from what was 3-4 pages long menu that was far too big, to a one page menu of first class food. From the crab croquettes to the pate to the ribs and Irish short rib, it was just top class.Really enjoyable meal in a fantastic restaurant.Hi 1STTIMEBERLIN,Thank you so much for your review of The Windrose! It's fantastic to hear that you love our new menu as much as we do!We take great pride in the food and customer service we offer and a lot of thought goes into the decor and menus etc, so it is really fantastic to hear that you have enjoyed it so much.We can't wait to have you back again soon.Kind Regards,The Windrose

Hadnât been here for some years and a recent visit reminded me why. Despite the place being anything but full, those who were there seemed to be particularly loud, making conversation among us very difficult. Atmosphere is one thing, but this volume was over and above comfort level. Nearly 15 minutes after being seated and provided with menus we had the opportunity to place our drinks order and were expected to order our food at the same time. Usually I expect to peruse the menu while savouring my first drink. Our various food orders arrived pleasantly promptly. My mini grill was almost overwhelmed by three mighty onion rings, which were easily the most flavoursome item on the plate. The sausage quality and taste were very poor. The mushroom, bacon and chicken were similarly down in identifiable flavour. The chunky chips were good. For sweet, my lemon cheesecake âwith strawberriesâ was almost acceptable, but suffered by having just two quarter strawberries - not even a single whole one! This is not a place I can recommend, except for drinks outside, on a nice summer evening, looking out over Ballyholme bay and Belfast Lough. With a bit of thought applied, this could be an excellent venue because of its location.

The best of international cooking using great local produce served with flair.
This is a real hidden gem. The food was the best food that i have had for ages. It is more expensive than other restaurants in the area, but dining here is a real experience. I strongly recommend for any foodies visiting the area. It is a smal restaurant, with a cosy feel to it. We had the 5 course tasting menu, and it was absolutely beautiful in every way, the food, the presentation and the service. I cannot fault the staff in any way, the service was absolutely perfect. I have been to many fine dining restaurants in my time, but few that can compare to this. It was great value for the quality of the food and service.I highly recommend this restaurant.
