This restaurant needs to be reported and come with a warning as they deliberately and shamelessly rip off tourists!!!If only I had read the reviews on TripAdvisor I wouldnât have fallen for the same scam soo many other tourists fell victim too.On arrival you get given an English only menu ... this gives only a few combo options. Looking around I was the only tourist and the other locals were eating whole fresh fish. I ordered and what I got was a disgrace ... 4 tiny fried pieces of fish and some stale vegetables. The locals are given a whole different menu in Arabic that actually offers the whole and fish selection at prices 5 times lower. This made me furious - I donât mind paying, but when one is exploited to this level because you donât speak the language and âhave moneyâ is down right shameful. I said this to the man as I paid and he just looked at me and turned away.Avoid this place like the plague it is!!!
If you ask any one in Aswan for a seafood restaurant they will recommend Chef Khalil, you will find my review on that restaurant which is lousy and serving stale old farm fish! However, El Salam Nile & Seafood restaurant had what I had been searching for, fresh caught fish!! Like any other fish restaurant you will find a variety of fish, and like most if not all most of the fish in display is farmed fish which is not tasty and you don't know what it has been fed! They have two stands here one with a large display of fish, shrimp and calamari etc and the 2nd stand dedicated for Tilapia fish caught fresh from Lake Nasser (You can tell the fresh caught fish from the farmed ones we get here in Cairo, the fresh caught fish are silver in color, the farmed fish are grayish red)Go for charcoal grilled medium sized fish 600g perfect for fried go for larger size, and the smaller size if excellent for oven bakedTry their seafood soup or shrimp soup was very niceVery good prices (Tilapia KG ranges from L.E 25-30) pending on size while the other restaurant was selling at L.E 45
