Reviews on Seafood food in Asilah, Tangier-Tetouan Region, Morocco. A peaceful town on the northern coast of Morocco, Asilah is a tranquil and beautiful destination on the Atlantic Coast. Offering a refuge from the nearby bustling cities of Tangier and Tetouan, Asilah features deserted, quiet beaches and a relaxing atmosphere. The town has Mediterranean-influenced buildings, including whitewashed houses with blue accents on walls and doors. The array of houses decorated with paintings highlights the island's reputation as an artists' hangout.

Quite a good first impression: discent layout, fully crowded, serving alcohol, accepting card payments (all quite rare for Morocco). Unfortunately food, above the seafood paella was more than mediocre. The vegitable soup tasted as instant, the meatballs were overcumined, the creme brule was sour and tasted burned, so totally spoiled. Overall kudos for the unique things here and advice to improve cuisine in order to be top.

Even if Asilah is a touristic place, in Morocco, in that little restuarant you can breath a nice atmosphere very different from Tangier. You take your time sitting out in the main commercial street of the little city, and you haven't to be in a hurry...Service is quite fast, and you can choose fish and meat in an interesting menu, not to forget sweets...at the end of your lunch, the bill will be friendly like the sympathetic owner :)

We had a great meal here -- fresh grilled sole, octopus, prawns + salads and delicious watermelon to end. The place is right on the street running along the ocean and must be very crowded during the summer. But we almost had it to ourselves. The waiter was very nice and funny and spoke good, colloquial English. Would definitely recommend. This is not a touristy place -- only natives there when we were there!

We were party of four including two teenagers traveling to Morocco from United states. The food was excellent. We felt at home even we could speak to mom (the owner) who was cooking the meals. I recommend to any Americans traveling to that part the world to try the food. Do not go to fancy ones near by because they charge you arm and hammer.

This French restaurant was a recommendation and is a real find. Despite there being around 5 rather good restaurants in this lovely holiday town, La Perla is outstanding in all senses. Easily as good as La Fabrique, (the best French restaurant in Tangier) and quite the best place to eat in Asilah. We had dinner (rather early - they open at 7 and we took advantage) and there were no other guests. Even so, the entire menu was available, and the staff welcoming, warm without being intrusive, and the service discreet, prompt and extremely kind. A three course meal with wine came out around 35⬠per head for three of us; we had outstanding food. The main course duck that I had was one of the best (and best-decorated) dishes I have ever eaten. The chocolate desert was orgasmic. Truly, an outstanding meal, and far better than any of the other places we ate during our stay. Worth mentioning, for those who just cross the water to Tangier, than Asilah is just a 45 minute taxi ride from Tangier port. The official price (we checked later) is 200 dirhams, so take care not to accept offers from drivers to take you for 50â¬!!

Traditional Moroccan restaurant, specialty fish and grills.
Moroccans know wery good how to prepare perfect meat. âTahadart Grillâ was the place were i tried the best lamb in my life. The owner of restaurant has a big farm and garden. Restaurant cook everything just from what the family of owner grows up. Can you imagine how huge is farm when restaurant use 35-55 sheeps per day? Restaurant is very big and it is always full of people. Its not surprising because food is amazing here. You can see fresh meat, fish and show what you want. You can ask make tagine or grill. They have big grill with natural smoke. We asked to prepare a big plate (1,2 kg) of 3 kinds of different made grilled meat of lamb and beef (cutlets, balls, ribs). The plate with bread, olives, special tomato sauce, some vegetables costed just 13 euros. Morocco is always surprising with a difference of prices. You can eat a big plate of meat for 13 euros in Assilah and you can drink one bottle ( 0,33 l) beer for 20 euros in pub in Casablanca.âTahadart Grillâ is located on the N1 road 12 km north of Asilah (Tangier). They have a large indoor restaurant and tables on the patio and roof terrace. Rooms and camping are also available. The beach is just across the road. In 1977 Mohamed Ben Taher had no doubt that he was about to start a long history. At first his specialty was selling fish and meat, after some time it became a camp of fast food, but soon, and thanks to the efforts provided, its surface has increased, the quality of food has improved and the small butcher became among the biggest camping in the area.http://www.tahadart.com/

The food was very acceptable, however the servers left something to be desired. They were not hospitable. Service was very slow and we had to ask for essentials like glasses and olive oil multiple times. We also never received 1 drink we ordered.Came off as very elitest as they only served those well that looked wealthier.

We were attracted by the hand written menu, assuming accurately the use of the most fresh seasonal ingredients. Attentive owner took our order and then cooked our food. We were planning to order the barnacles having never tried them before but she surprised us with a tasty free sample. We had a delicious fresh red tuna and a starter of grilled eggplant and pumpkin from an 8th century recipe. The orange slices with cinnamon were the best in Morocco with a unique homemade orange blossom infusion and the rice dessert was delicious also. Quite a special experience.

We had the best evening here: The owner & staff are really friendly! Food was perfect (we had fish, steak, salad and some desserts afterwards). Perfect if you want something else than the Moroccan delicacies. Go there, you won't be dissapointed :)!
