Porcini, (means little pigs in Italian) are the same mushroom called cèpe (in French), and in Germany, Steinpilz (the "stone mushroom"). They are gathered wild in the woods in the fall and people make some extra money selling them to vendors and restaurants. Here, in Ristorante Rintocco they brought a big plate of the mushrooms for us to see, along with two beautiful fresh fish. We split an antipasto which consisted of a bowl of Tuscan soup, a plate of marinated zucchini and a bruschetta with fresh tomato. I had the home made tagliatelle with the porcini. My husband had fish. My pasta was obviously made by hand and it was slightly over cooked so it stuck together and the porcini sauce was quite sparse. Otherwise everything was good.

Great restaurant set in a quaint village we came across on the way back to pienza from saturnia. The manager and chef were very friendly, good honest people, the house wine was delicious, the tiramisu and pannacotta to die for and just 3 euros! The mushroom and ham pizza was so good we had to order another one! Definitely no tourist trap!Thank you so much for your review. We chose for our costumers a short menu in order to provide an high food's quality.

Visited twice, sat outside once and inside once. Menus a long time coming. No translation and staff have no English so expect to work it out! Sat outside, although its on a main road, good efforts have been made to make the area welcoming. Lovely lovely food, beautifully cooked. Pizzas and pasta both great. Starter Crostini breads amazing. As was the bresola carpaccio. a really lovely place to eat.

We were spending the day wandering around Mt. Amiata and decided it was lunch time. We saw the retaurant by the side of the road and there were lots of cards, so we decided to stop. The outdoor dining area was large and packed with people. but we managed to get an outside table. When the waiter came over, he proceeded to tell us the day's menu. My wife speaks a little Italian and with a couple of "repeat please", we managed to order. I had the pasta and wild boar and the freshly made pasta was incredible. The noodles were so thin, they melt in your mouth. It was hard to keep my wife's fork out of my plate. She ordered the tortelli with truffles and after listening to her carry on about how delicious they were, i tried her pasta and could hardly keep my fork out of her plate. We finished with the roasted rabbit which was perfectly moist, tender and flavorful. The house wine was OK. There are no fancy plate presentations here, just delicious food made with care and expertise, and the prices are very reasonable. Great Place to stop.

Having a house in the area for 7 years I have wide experience of what is on offer in the Maremma, Tuscany area and I cannot believe the reviews on this restaurant! If you are not looking for a tourist restaurant with all that entails but you wish to sample local food at unbelievable low prices, eaten by local people then this is most definitely the place to be. The service is brilliant but the menu is magnificent especially on Wednesday and Friday. That is when the Fishmonger brings up his fresh catch of the day and believe this is popular with the locals. Judge by the numbers of people who come here and eat. Thre course meal, coffee the bill is never more than â¬15 per head!!!! Absolutely brilliant. I totally and utterly recommend this restaurant to anybody in the area as a terrific example of local food served for local people as is demonstrated by the fact that it is always full. Do yourself a favour, if you are in the area of Castel Del Piano, which is a very attractive Town and well worth a visit then have lunch at this restaurant especially on a Wednesday and a Friday. Value for money it is the best.
