Bought a small fish supper here on Sunday evening. Canât imagine what size the normal one is! The fish was very good and the chips were okay. Far from the best fish supper Iâve ever had but it did the job.

The Costley Group certainly know how to look after their guests, my wife and I called in on chance earlier this week. The food was first class along with the service that we received from the young waiting staff. We would highly recommend this restaurant to friends and family, can't wait to go back.

Second visit here. Because of the positive experience we had on our first visit, albeit only for a coffee, we decided to stop for a snack en-route to Port Patrick. We weren't too hungry so ordered "just" a sandwich and soup to share. Oh my goodness!! The smoked salmon and prawn sandwich was enormous, packed full of prawns and salmon and came with a side of lovely home made chips. The soup was also delicious and we were both stuffed. The quality of the food was matched by the friendly efficiency of the staff who all appeared to be enjoying their work. As previously stated, this was our second visit and the welcome was just as warm as on our previous visit. If passing through Kirkoswald don't pass this wee gem. We certainly won't.

This is not much more than a 'greasy spoon' with a lovely view.I would not encourage anyone to stop here.I had the linked sausage, which were small and tasted like they were predominately bread filling. I could not discern much meat content, (£6.75). I am sure good quality sausages are available locally at a small increase in price. My wife had the 'home-made ' chicken and ham pie (£8.50), a small portion which was very thin. It had very little filling and a thick crust and therefore tasted mostly of pastry. She consequently left most of it. Leaving just chips and peas to eat. It was a bit soggy (as if re-heated in the micro-wave).If travelling north, turn round and try the farm kitchen place you have just passed. If travelling south, carry on and it is just past this place.Dear Alan A, Thank you for your review.,Our sausages have been supplied by the same supplier for years, and are normally a very good quality link and Lorne sausage. We sell a tremendous amount of our homemade pies( chicken & ham, steak , minced steak & onion , and cheese & onion ) every day and will investigate your complaint. We do appreciate all our reviews but maybe not so much, when it seems to be an advert for our neighbours

We were a group of 12 for dinner. Since we are staying at the beautiful Turnberry property this was an easy place for dinner â after a great day of golf for the boys nearby and a day of sightseeing for the girls. We opted to walk down from the hotel but staff is happy to shuttle guests back and forth. It was such a lovely night and the views were so stunning we wanted to walk and enjoy. The views from our table were magnificent. Molly, our server, did a fantastic job. We did not wait for anything - from placing an order to receiving our plates. Well done Molly! The food was excellent, too. My husband and I shared the fish cakes starter â delicious! He then had the luxury fish and chips (calamari and lobster included with the traditional fish and chips) while I had the salmon. We were both very pleased with our choices. Everyone at our table was very happy. No one could pass up dessert and the offerings were superb. The restaurant handles large parties wonderfully, which has not been our experience elsewhere during our trip to Scotland. We were very impressed, but then that is the level of service at this property. Fantastic!A walk back up the steps to the hotel to see the sun finally set (at 10:15 pm!) was a nice ending to the evening.Dear kagmeister,Thank you so much for taking the time to send us your feedback following your most recent visit to Duel in the Sun at Turnberry.Your feedback is greatly appreciated as it allows me to monitor the level of service we deliver and helps identify any areas which may require our attention, as well as create an opportunity to reward and recognise our team here at Turnberry.I was pleased to read that you had an enjoyable experience during your time amongst us and that the staff, particularly Molly, played a role in this.Once again thank for choosing to stay at the resort and for reaching out to us for all components of your stay - Hotel, 1906 and Dueal in the Sun - and allowing me the opportunity to respond. We look forward to welcoming you back sometime in the near future.Yours sincerely,Shalane

We re regulars to this bright friendly eatery and gift shop. Restaurant manager Kelsey greets you warmly and is perpetual motion as she serves customers and directs her team. Food arrives quickly and any issues are dealt with promptly and courteously. One of the best.

Sadly our experience this time was very disappointing. We were forgotten about! The young gentleman who served us looked as though he was on another planet, despite being assured he had been employed with Turnberry for quite sometime. We took 2 American honeymoon guests with us to experience the Turnberry hospitality and I was embarrassed.Oh and I forgot to mention the dog that was running about the Grand Tea room, despite them not permitting dogs.I suspect that it was staff that allowed it. Sadly, a bad experience this time.

Family run Hotel and Restaurant with 11 ensuite bedrooms. Situated in the picturesque village of Maidens. Stunning sea views and a stone's throw away from Culzean Castle and Trump Turnberry. Dine in our wonderful restaurant and enjoy a range of local prod
Outstanding value for money.I cannot think of another restaurant that can come anywhere near the quality and choice at this price. In fact, ignore the price because you could pay twice as much and have much poorer fare! Please, do yourself a favour and treat your taste buds to this outstanding food.I canât rate it highly enough.

Iconic hotel with great sea views.Immaculately maintained. Excellent greeting on arrival and escorted to table. Friendly, welcoming staff. We both considered that the starters on offer were the star. Plenty of choice if you haven't a fish allergy. Rather disappointed in the choice of mains. Sadly the beef bourguignon lacked texture and flavour and like some of the vegetables on the buffet it was not maintained at a high enough temperature. Reasonable selection of sweets and excellent selection of cheeses. Went for good old Scottish tap water at the table as we were driving. Having stayed overnight twice previously we were well aware that the wine and spirits are at premium prices.Dear 50Ecosse,Thank you so much for taking the time to send us your feedback following your most recent visit to 1906 at Turnberry.Your feedback is greatly appreciated as it allows us to monitor the level of service we deliver and helps identify any areas which may require our attention, as well as create an opportunity to reward and recognise our team here at Turnberry.I was pleased to read that you had an enjoyable experience during your time amongst us and that the staff played a role in this. We will also take on board your comments regarding the main curse selection on offer. Once again thank for choosing to stay at the resort and for reaching out to us and allowing me the opportunity to respond. We look forward to welcoming you back sometime in the near future.Yours sincerely,Shalane

Visited Auld Acquaintance in Girvan partly due to the positive reviews on Trip Advisor, which bore no resemblance to the establishment we visited. The place itself wasdefinitely appropriate to its title - auld (old), tatty and looked uncared for; however, once inside, we decided to give it a go as often appearances can be deceptive. I ordered a tuna & feta pizza and my friend ordered roasted Mediterranean vegetable pizza. We waited ages for the food to arrive, despite the fact there was hardly anyone in the place and when the food eventually arrived we were both flabbergasted. Both pizzas were made with ready made pizza bases, smothered in what appeared to be tomato puree instead of pizza sauce and my pizza was smothered in what I can only presume to be tuna savoury, the type used for sandwich fillings, instead of just tuna with lumps of melted cheddar and a tiny amount of feta on top. It actually looked as if a dog had thrown up on top of a pizza base. My friend's roasted med veg pizza wasn't much better and both were served on plastic plates! My supposed tuna & feta pizza was cold, so I asked for it to be warmed up, whereby the waitress took it away & then the 'chef' appeared & explained that it couldn't be reheated due to the presence of mayonnaise, reinforcing my suspicion that it was sandwich filling on the pizza instead of just tuna & feta. The food was so awful we ate only a couple of pieces, paid and then left. I wouldn't mind but the food there isn't cheap; £8.99 for a 9 inch pizza which frankly wasn't as nice as a chesp frozen pizza from Asda. The food was absolutely horrible and the place bore absolutely no resemblance whatsoever to the establishment described or depicted on Trip Advisor, therefore I'd recommend that everyone gives this place the widest berth possible and go elsewhere.
