We popped in for lunch one day and were delighted. A friendly welcome and a good menu. We all love seafood and wondered what to choose. We liked the sound of the gumbo but were worried it might be too spicy. We were given a sample pot which convinced us - and were offered some creme fraiche to cool it down a little. It was perfect. Thank you

We visit this area a lot with work, and the Claymore is one of our favourites. Tonight was busy, and the service was slow, but thatâs OK and understandable. However the food was appalling and overpriced, not seen that here before. The mussel broth was bland and watery, my chicken was cremated and inedible dumped on frozen chips with a few uninspiring lettuce leaves. We had 3 pints, 3 cokes and the bill was £103 for 3 of us with no desserts. Not good.

Food is the crowning part of the Kinloch experience. Feeding you well at every opportunity is something we take extremely seriously. Claire Macdonald started the kitchens at Kinloch with a mission to make the most of the wonderful local produce on offer.
Iâve been fortunate enough to eat in a few high class restaurants in my time and can certainly applaud this one. The chef is inventive with his food and never fails to deliver the quality and taste expected of this caliber of restaurant.Thoroughly recommended

Located in the Old Schoolhouse building in Breakish only 6 miles over the bridge in the beautiful Isle of Skye, Red Skye Restaurant aims to provide a wonderfully relaxed yet creative dining experience. Open 6 days per week from March till October with exc
We called in for lunch having prebooked (which is advisable). The restaurant was busy, and whilst our order was taken promptly by a very good hostess/waitress, we had to wait around 40 minutes for our food to arrive. The kitchen is small and only staffed by one person as far as we could see, and this limits the speed of output if it is busy. We had a main course and dessert. Beef blade as a main course was very tasty, and the burgers are of a good quality, but only a meagre serving of chips was forthcoming. The lack of green vegetables was a disadvantage. Belgium chocolate mousse as a dessert was good, but overpriced. There is a good selection of local beers and also a wine list/menu, but all drinks are expensive.

We enjoyed a great meal with an extra treat thrown in. The lounge served coffee and tea after dinner which was nice. You could see the bridge to Skye from the hotel which was very picture perfect. There was a lift but bags were taken to the room. The lift was kinda scary with floor to ceiling green carpet! Room was on the small side but had everything you'd need. Breakfast was cooked to order and very good.

Pub Food
The best thing about this place was that it was nice and toasty warm, and the waitress was nice. The person behind the counter taking orders was curt (putting it nicely), and was acting exasperated at the non-English speakers that were placing their orders. My soup was terrible, like someone had dumped a handful of sugar in it. My daughter's bolognese was edible, and my husband's fish was fresh and well prepared.

Visited the King Haakon on our hiking trip around Skye. Great views of the Skye bridge and the Kyle Akin. This is a popular bar and restaurant so grab a table when you get the chance. Sports shown on numerous screens around the bar so can get noisy depending what games are showing. If the bar is too busy or too noisy, they also have the adjacent restaurant to choose from as an alternative option.Sevice is attentive and efficient no matter how busy they were and food is great value pub style grub with a decent selection of beers to choose from.

There are not many places one can return to after 50 years and find them much as you remembered - but in the best of ways. Stopped in here for coffee after a week on nearby Raasay, and while it's been well maintained, the layout and feel of the hotel hadn't really changed much from my student days when, working in a nearby guest house for the summer, I spent quite a bit of off duty time with some of the local young people who'd befriended my colleague and me - granted more often in the bar!Warmly welcomed, we enjoyed a good cup of coffee and an outstanding slice of gluten free/vegetarian chocolate orange tart - with the bonus of a chat with the cheery waitress, who was kept busy with minibus travellers popping in. It's a great location too, so don't just come off the bridge and turn north, or you'll miss this unpretentious, friendly and well run restaurant, as well as the views and the story of Eilean Ban (the lighthouse island) where Gavin Maxwell (Ring of Bright Water) lived with his otters. Happy memories!

Glenelg based supper clubs. BYOB. Tasting menus and Sunday Brunch. Also available for private dinners for up to 12 guests.
Verity and Jenny cooked and served a fantastic dinner for my guests at my 50th Birthday Party last weekend. The food was delicious and beautifully presented to 14 guests at the House we had rented. They were a joy to work with from the outset, quick to respond, suggest menu options and very organised on the day itself. A talented pair indeed! I would absolutely recommend them to anyone as my experience was truly faultless.
