Such an unwelcoming and rude greeting from staff before entering the building we didnât even bother to order. A bit of general politeness goes a long way. Iâm sorry to hear you feel this way as we pride ourselves on making all our visitors feel welcome and enjoy their time at our cafe and have never received adverse feedback regarding such matters before. It would have been helpful to know specifically what made you feel this way to enable us to learn from your experience.

Stopped here after getting stuck in a road closure for hours. Were in desperate need of food and toilet. They were rather busy and we were not greeted even after 10 minutes of standing looking at a number of vacant but un cleared tables. Looked like food was good but we didn't stay as nobody showed us to a seat or gave us any idea of wait time. Need more staffI am sorry that you were disappointed but am rather concerned with this review and would dispute its accuracy........nobody stands for 10 minutes without being greeted. We have been extremely busy but if we had empty tables, even if they were uncleared, you would be shown to one and told that we would be along to clear it. If there were no empty tables then you would have been greeted within a couple of minutes if we were really busy and advised of a time wait. I am sure that you can appreciate that on the day of the road closure, everyone had the same idea as you.....unfortunately we are unable to get extra staff at the drop of a hat to cope with this sudden deluge of visitors.

We had such a lovely experience here at The Inch Hotel, we were warmly greeted on our arrival and were swiftly checked in. Our room was great, very comfortable and spacious. We were very kindly set up with a table in the bar, so we could have dinner without having to put the dogs in the car. Dinner ........... Wow!!! I had a steak which may have been the best Iâd ever had - absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked, my desert was equally delicious. My wifeâs dinner was reportedly just as nice and we retired to the delightful lounge, with fabulous views of Loch Ness.I wouldnât hesitate to stay here again, and to highly recommend this charming hotel to everyone, thanks very much. The dogs loved their stay as well!

Our 5 course set menu is imaginatively devised by head chef, Sean Kelly This is what the AA has to say: "...There's a lot going on in chef Sean Kelly's world, for as well as being extremely choosy about the ingredients he uses in his five-course dinner me
In an intimate and romantic setting, we enjoyed our five course taster menu which was simply superb. After two greetings from the kitchen, we had delicious local seafood as well as game and beef during our menu. Not only was it expertly cooked and beautifully arranged, it was also made with ingredients one would otherwise not get outside Scotland (like wild raspberry sorbet, Isle of Skye scallops... I could go on). The service was - in line with the rest of the Lovat - wonderful. The wine selection was large enough and offered some good bottles from the old continent (as opposed to only providing customers with new world wines which is rather common in the UK). Can only thoroughly recommend it!

We visited on a very hot day and this was the quietest of the places around the canal. I had scampi and chips my husband fish. It was served very quickly too quick for it to be fresh. It was plain pub grub the side salad was a nice addition but itâs not a gastro pub if youâll looking for plain pub food this is for you if you want something special eat elsewhere

Want the very best fish and chips EVER while enjoying a wonderful, cozy pub? The Lock Inn is the place. My friend and I enjoyed chatting with fellow pub goers over a few beers and had resigned ourselves to generic fish and chips. We were blown away at how perfectly the fish was cooked. The batter was light and delicious and non-greasy. The servers were nice and offered travel tips. Being a dog lover, I was happy to see a few canine friends at the pub. Nancy many thanks for your positive review, glad you and your friend enjoyed your visit to the lock inn, hopefully you will come back and visit us again

40 Seater Brasserie with modern surroundings is open for breakfast, lunch & dinner, 7 days a week - offering local produce, presented with care, creativity & charisma.
Really loved the food and service- had a 3 course tasting menu that was local, fresh and well paired with wines. Service was friendly and attentive. Nice lighting, and just across the street from Highlands Club and next to the canal. After dinner, we had a nice scotch by the fireplace in the Inn waiting for the rain to slow down- great experience and #1 on our places at Loch Ness!
