New Takeaway, and soon to be opened eat in facility in Ellon. Food is wood smoked and great. In spite of the name does vegetarian options too! All food containers used are 100% compostable and food sourced locally. Worth a visit to pick up food and speak to Alistair who is the Meat Monster in chief who explained his plans for the business. Won't be our last visit but not going to do much for my waistline!Yep... if we wait for politicians to sort the planet they'll boil us alive! Is it easy (or cheap) to build a business model obsessed with minimising our impact on the planet no, is it worthwhile and rewarding... absolutely.

A group of us were here recently for a late lunch. The large and airy room was sparsely populated and we were quickly ushered to a table by the very friendly and attentive staff. There's a very varied menu with typical staples such as fish and chips, meats, omelettes, burgers and vegetarian options such as tortes and pasta dishes. The food we had was high quality but.... although the meats at the carvery were tasty and moist, the accompanying vegetables had been sitting for way to long and were dry and chewy. I suspect there just weren't enough people coming through to keep it turned over enough. Shame.

Bar is relaxed & Casual Restaurant is a bit smarter, and a more suitable family environment.
A bunch of us went there for lunch. The decor is a bit dated but otherwise it was comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive (although it wasn't busy). The lunch menu was varied but mostly made up of traditional pub fare. As there was a group of us, I could see what others were getting and it all looked good. It was piping hot and obviously freshly cooked and very well presented. Portion sizes looked to be about right. Some of the items were flagged as local produce.A quick visit to the bathroom confirmed that they were well kept.

We are regulars not just because it's nearby but because it's excellent. Good service. Friendly atmosphere where you could come on your own and chat to someone at another table. Love the coffee, breakfast offerings, panini, home bakes ... there's nothing we haven't enjoyed.

Mid-week lunch with good steak pie, flaky pastry and well cooked fries.. The downside was that the vegetables were boiled to death and tasteless. The curry was much appreciated but the service was prefunctory and unwelcoming. Not sure I would go back.gobsmacked to read this boiled to death veg unwelcoming service ??? really sounds like somewhere else . if this was the case then were sorry

Went on a Saturday afternoon, it was really busy so thought this was a good sign! I couldnât not have been more wrong. The staff were run ragged, so busy that when taking our drinks order we ordered a large bottle of Prosecco she gave us a small bottle. Then the food came, it was awful! I asked for potatoes with my meal, when they arrived they had sprouted! And I was actually served them. How long had they been sitting before being served.iI had vegetables but they had been so over cooked they were unrecognisable. I can not express enough how awful was. Will never be back and we are local.

In January 2018 our brand new coffee shop was born, The Barn in Foveran. We are a small family run business who strive for a warm and friendly welcome whilst delivering an outstanding menu for a coffee shop with freshly ground coffee, homemade cakes and s
Table booked for 16:45, drinks order not taken till 17:15, very very slow, carvery average, beef tuff and Yorkies burnt and ran out of oatmeal, more waiting and missed drinks orders, every request was forgotten and we had to chase. Seems to be busy, but obviously not able to cope. No plans to go back any time soon. We are very sorry you had this experience yesterday as this is not the level of service we want you to have at all. We have just started our Carvery Sundays a few weeks ago and were indeed extremely busy yesterday. We have been overwhelmed by the fantastic response and amazing feedback we have had so far. If you would like to contact me directly, we can discuss this further.

Came here for Sunday lunch as part of my 70th birthday celebrations along with a friend who had also turned 70, and our partners. Trying to think of adjectives that are not hackeyed, so.....how about meticulous attention to quality and presentation; sympatico surroundings, lovely friendly staff who hit just the right level of attentiveness without intruding in any way.....fresh beautifully prepared and well chosen ingredients, locally sourced. And just so damned TASTY. With a refreshingly knowledgeably chosen wine list, we all so much enjoyed such a perfectly balanced meal. My starter of beetroot walnut and goat cheese, after the little amuse bouche of bruschetta, etc, was light and delicious. My duck confit was as perfect, crisp, and substantial as any I have had in France. Personally, I rarely eat puddings, but enjoyed my cheeseboard with a final swan song of port, and my friends were ecstatic about their puds. After coffee, we enjoyed the serene and peaceful ambience of Udny village green. The decor in the restaurant is mercifully tartan free and tastefully chic. A place for an occasional splurge, but you really do get what you pay for. I shall be back.
