The Byre Inn is a lovely looking pub and we found the landlady to be really nice and friendly. Sadly, the landlord likes the sound of his own voice rather too much and his constant "jokes", often at the expense of the customers, really gets on your nerves. He simply wouldn't shut up and leave us alone, even when we were trying to read. As others have mentioned on here, he needs to learn when to back off and leave customers alone. His "jokes" at our expense were the kind you might have in banter with your mates, not with someone you've just met. The meals themselves were basic and not worth the price paid. We were then overcharged (no itemised bill, so we had to work it out ourselves) and had to complain. The music is certainly eclectic, but that's okay as long as it's kept in the background. Sadly, the landlord seems to think he's some kind of DJ and plays it so loud you can't have a conversation. The pub itself is a lovely building and could be a cracking place, but it's let down by the self obsessed landlord (whom I expect to post an acidic reply to this review as he has with other poor reviews) and the incredibly high prices. £5 for a point of bitter ? Welcome to the Byre Inn, Shoreditch !We won't go over old ground. Our prices are what they are. Please refer to previous responses. Our repeat business and wonderful reviews speak for themselves. Jason interacts with all customers and goes out of his way to make guests welcome as is regularly stated in other trip advisor reviews. The fact that he didnt get on with you says more about you than him.If you want to sit and read and not socialise can I suggest spending an afternoon in the bar of a pub isn't the place to do it. Again as with other posts, we have a quiet dining room, if you make the decision to sit in the noisier bar as you did, you will hear music! Shock horror! If you want to get into an "acid attack" slagging match please come back and speak to me, the lovely landlady, who will be more than happy to accommodate you. I have a few things to say to those who smile when leaving then launch personal and bitter cyber attacks on my family via trip advisor. Unfortunately none are suitable for public viewing.

Found this when staying nearby while on holiday in the Trossachs. The food was really excellent - I loved the creamy chicken with rice while my wife had fantastic beef and ale pie - large chunks of melt in your mouth beef and crispy filo pastry. The starters did not disappoint - the home made fish cakes were delicious. Everything seemed to be lovingly homemade. The service was friendly and efficient and you were treated as more than a number which was good. This is certainly not a posh environment but traditional almost like a village hall internally but a lovely atmosphere within a beautiful and rather quieter village than most of the nearby Trossachs. The only slight bugbear for me is a pet hate that the sample menu on the web did not seem to reflect the current pricing. I have to say the prices were reasonable anyway but generally a couple of quid higher per item than on the published sample. It would be good to see the sample menu updated. The sweet would have been beautiful (the berry mixture was divine) had a mistake not been made with a cheesy topping instead of sweet one. This mistake that anyone could make was handled very professionally and although we didn't want another sweet by then they very thoughtfully and kindly brought us a small ice cream each on the house. This small error really didn't spoil our evening which as a whole was very much worthy of 5 stars and a thorough recommendation. My only disappointment was not being able to enjoy that lovely berry mixture! We will be back when we are next in the area too and would definitely wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone who likes informal dining on quality home made food for a reasonable price - something it is hard to find around that area.

Venachar Lochside has a beautiful location on the banks of Loch Venachar, 10 minutes from Callander. Our menus offer fresh, seasonal and local produce. We have facilities for idyllic lochside weddings and functions in addition to great trout and pike fish
Went to Vanacher Lochside recently to attend a 60th birthday party. We were unbelievably lucky with the weather, sat outside and had an excellent time. The service was first class and food was very nice indeed. No complaints at all.

We got a more expensive room (Menteith) for its water view. Hotel is not fancy but the setting couldnât be more magical. And the staff couldnât be better- they all went out of their way to make our three nights memorable. We ate in the hotel restaurant 2 nights - itâs the best restaurant around, but they donât vary the menu/specials much so we ate out our third night, settling for less good food with more choice. Cooked to order breakfasts were excellent. Alex provided a great guide to special whisky and the photo bomb is by the delightful server. A special place.Thank you for visiting our hotel and for sharing your generous comments with fellow travellers. Delighted you had a great time with us and we are very gratefull for our local and excellent team. Look forward to welcoming you back. Regards Ian & Jamie

Scottish Bistro, serving local fresh produce at Loch Achray, the heart of the Trossachs. Booking essential.
Just returned from an absolutely stunning meal at Scottâs Bistro! Faultless service, food, value for money! My partner had the Haggis starter which was lovely and the Pork and Apple burger which he loved and said that without a doubt it was the best pork heâs ever had, super tender. I had the slow cooked lamb shank which was absolutely incredible! All the food was piping hot and so delicious, even the chips were outstanding! My partner asked for a negroni cocktail which they happily accommodated. Mark who owns the restaurant went above and beyond, amazing prompt service and so friendly and personable, conversing about our stay and interests. Our highest compliments to Mark, the chef and the whole team. An absolute must visit if you are anywhere near the area!

Warm Welcoming Pub , Gluten Free menu . Large Sunny Beer Garden and Pets Welcome. Fresh food cooked to order, Stone Baked Pizza's, Daily Specials and Open wood burning fire. Pool table dart board. Real ales
Stopped here on the off chance we could get a table to have a quick bite to eat. No problems getting a table and we thoroughly enjoyed the goats cheese pizza and the fish & chips (hubby loved the fish and chips but says it needed peas, maybe its because he's a northern england lad :-)Staff friendly and on the whole it had a great atmosphere which seemed to have a mix of locals and visitors. Enjoyed a nice wee dram of Dalmore ( when in Scotland...) Recommend.

We called in for lunch whilst on holiday in the area, and were welcomed with a smile plus treats for black lab. The beer and the food were very much to our liking with a good choice available plus a smiling service,Following this we visited here on two more occasions with the same good results.
